video game addict #7 Posted February 22, 2005 Start them at a $1 and let them sell for $15-20, I don't see the whole $50 starting bid thing. He's been selling for a year now, how many total new entries are there for the Beagle company? over 30 probably I'd guess. His auction sounds like he's trying to make a thing of the "only 3 known releases" and this one isn't listed. I guess he's can release whatever he wants, lol where the rarity in that. Albert #8 Posted February 22, 2005 Ugh, it's time to change this, "This auction is for the "Unbelievably Rare" Atari 2600 game Solar Storm by Beagle Brothers. On Atari Age website, 3 games by this name are rated 10 out of 10 in rarity (Q*Bert, Keystone Kapers, Basketball) and this one isn't even listed!!! If you look at the site, you will see that the Beagle Brothers Cartridges are made the same as this one. Atari Age describes unbelievably rare as follows: "These games are almost impossible to find in the wild. Even collectors who have been at it for years may never run across one of these, and they often make up the showcase of an individual's collection. These rarely show up even on Ebay, and if they do there will most likely be a bidding war." That's ridiculous now, obviously. Might be best to just remove these games entirely from the database. ..Al

video game addict #10 Posted February 22, 2005 Maybe change the Rarity to Udetermined. And possibly add in the others. Tony was keeping a listing in the rarity forum on all titles that have showed up on ebay in the last year or so. They are definitely not as rare as they once were. I personally don't like most of the R10s, Xante & Romox carts, Beagles mostly all pirate unknown stuff. At least the others are still fairly rare though. CPUWIZ #11 Posted February 22, 2005 Maybe you should change the description to read that the games are being made in someone's basement in Colorado and have little value due to their acrid smell. They are not basement copies, those came from a large lot from a game rental store, originally manufactured in Brazil. Trust me when I say that, I have opened 5 of them now, they all have old solder and flux.
Albert #12 Posted February 22, 2005 Maybe you should change the description to read that the games are being made in someone's basement in Colorado and have little value due to their acrid smell. I just checked, and we did change the description of the three games we have in the database to, These cartridges carry the name "Beagle Brothers" on the label, although we do not believe they were produced by the similarly named Beagle Bros who published home computer software in the 1980's. We believe they are from an unlicensed source who used the name for marketing purposes. The cartridges were found at flea markets or other second-hand sources, so tracking their origin has proven difficult. We have spoken to several ex-Beagle Bros employees who are unaware of any Atari 2600 carts produced by the company. The games themselves are simply repackaged versions of existing titles from Activision, Atari, and Parker Brothers. Beware of fakes in the collector market. Looks like this seller is using an old description of the games to help prop up the price of his auctions. I'm going to change the rarity now to "?" and also change the location to South America, which is where it appears the "original" pirated copies of these games originated. ..Al

Albert #19 Posted February 23, 2005 Make them a rarity 5 and we're done with the hype I removed the rarity--it's far too easy to make copies of these carts given the simplistic nature of the labels.
