George Gray #1 Posted February 24, 2005 Have'nt seen this posted here yet: http://www.redkeyreddoor.com/index.php?p=61 Looks like Jakks is adding a slot to it's 'consoles'. You'll be able to purchase 'new' old games for ten bucks. Called Gamekey, it looks interesting. It's almost too good to be true...
Ze_ro #2 Posted February 24, 2005 Hmm... I'm curious to see where this will end up going. I was under the impression that Jakks only really got the licenses to these games because the stuff they were making was outside of the normal realm of "console" systems, but this Red Key Red Door thing kinda blurs the lines. It might put them on some rather shakey legal grounds. --Zero
Gregory DG #3 Posted February 24, 2005 Well, they do have wireless ones now. That'd be the best way to go.
JB #4 Posted February 24, 2005 WOW! ROM CARTRIDGES FOR A FAMICLONE! I love how they call this a "next-generation innovation."

It's an interesting concept and in hindsight I'm surprised it took them this long to add a "slot" to these. I wonder how many games you'll get for $9.99, considering you can get many of these TV Games units for not much more (and sometimes you can find them on sale for less!) ..Al
moycon #6 Posted February 24, 2005 Wow that's slick. Makes sense too, Production of the "key" is probably much less than producing another whole unit. Hmmmm I wonder how long it will take someone to hack it?

NovaXpress #8 Posted February 24, 2005 According to IGN, each gamekey will be made for a specific unit. The first announced will be a re-release of the Ms.Pac-Man stick with gamekey slot, plus a gamekey which includes the 6 games from the PacMan stick. But reading the article you see that the real goal is to add content to the Spongebob and batman sticks. If they don't release a new classic gamekey set then we're in the same boat as before. Sauza12 #9 Posted February 24, 2005 This could be pretty cool. I wonder of they are planning to release any new games in these gamekeys. They probably won't, but it would be cool if they would.
+kisrael #10 Posted February 24, 2005 How many N-in-1s have a slot to plug in a second one as a second controller? That seems really important to me, esp. for that Genesis EA 95 Sports one...
