kennercanada #1 Posted February 25, 2005 I was just thinking that there really isn't any game I can think of that is a port of the Original Tron game from the arcades. Not any compilation and nothing released for any system. Perhaps I am wrong, but why was this game omitted. I could really go for some laser cycle races in the comfort of my own home Jim
Gregory DG #2 Posted February 25, 2005 Both Discs of Tron and the original arcade game can be found in the Gameboy Advance game, TRON 2.0. It's okay if you like squished graphics.
MacbthPSW #3 Posted February 26, 2005 I was just thinking that there really isn't any game I can think of that is a port of the Original Tron game from the arcades. Not any compilation and nothing released for any system. The GBA port is pretty much perfect, except as was mentioned, the screen ratio makes the game looked squished. I've spent a lot of time playing it, and it really doesn't bug me much. I did a bit of a review of the whole GBA Tron 2.0 game (which includes the original arcade port as one of several mini-games) in my blog a while ago, might as well plug it: http://my.tbaytel.net/macbeth/2005/02/tron...killer-app.html Perhaps I am wrong, but why was this game omitted. I think the main reason would be the controls - both a joystick with trigger, and a paddle-type spinning control to aim your shot in 3 of the 4 sub-games. I could really go for some laser cycle races in the comfort of my own home Actually, light cycles was the one sub-game that *didn't* require the spinner and was the one sub-game that was widely (and unofficially) ported to many systems. There must be a dozen versions of that game for the C64 alone - and most of the time they're referred to as Tron games. I really enjoyed the 3d version of light cycles in the PC version of Tron 2.0. Also, the GBA Tron 2.0 contains a more involved 2d version of the game with a larger (scrolling) grid, power-ups, and that sort of thing. Good fun. Inky #4 Posted February 26, 2005 How does one unlock the defrag game? I can't seem to figure that out.
kennercanada #5 Posted February 26, 2005 Thanks for the info, I'll have to look into it. Jim
MacbthPSW #6 Posted February 26, 2005 How does one unlock the defrag game? I can't seem to figure that out. I'm pretty sure it gets unlocked after you complete it in the main game. Both Tron and Mercury have to play the security game a lot - then I think Tron runs into the firewall in his missions, and Mercury has to defrag a program late in her missions. I found the defrag game really addictive for a while - but then, I found watching the Win98 defrag somewhat addictive too
