Blackjack #1 Posted March 3, 2005 How would one go about activating Half Life 2 without an internet connection?
ZylonBane #2 Posted March 3, 2005 Download a crack. Oops, need an internet connection for that.
Blackjack #3 Posted March 3, 2005 Download a crack. Oops, need an internet connection for that. No a crack would do, I should have said "Without connecting to steam". But the only cracks I've seen just do away with the cd check.
Mr.FoodMonster #4 Posted March 3, 2005 I'm pretty sure you cant enable it without going online, because there is one file that you have to download for it to work right anyways. Remember, half of HL2 is CS:S, and they are treating it very much that way. I just dont see why you wouldn't have a computer capible of running such a game NOT on the internet, unless you are horribly afraid of viruses and the such. PuddWakkr #5 Posted March 3, 2005 Actually I believe he is in the possession of pirated copy. Bad luck it didn't come prepatched and ready to play. Check out usenet I've seen tons of posts for HL2 cracks and such but since I don't game on my PC I never bothered to get any of them. The cracks are out there though. Inky #6 Posted March 3, 2005 All I know is that there's a cracked version of HL2 that runs BETTER than the commercial version. I already bought the commercial version, and somehow was able to solve it, despite the stuttering. I want a version that will run smooth.
Jess Ragan #7 Posted March 3, 2005 Any chance they're going to release this for a home game system? JR
Inky #8 Posted March 3, 2005 Any chance they're going to release this for a home game system? JR I was wondering that myself... BUt they'll probably find a way to include Steam on a console as well.
Blackjack #9 Posted March 3, 2005 Not that I'm above owning a pirated copy of something, but this one is not. Just took a pic in front of this thread for my proof.
+-^CrossBow^- #10 Posted March 3, 2005 If HL2 is ported to any console...I would say the Xbox would be the only unit we see it on. However, depending on how long the porting process took, we could see it released on the next gen consoles since they are only half a year and year away now... AtariYoungin #11 Posted March 7, 2005 Its already announced for the Xbox...has been since before it came out for the PC's.

Red 5 #15 Posted March 9, 2005 I wouldn't be shocked at all if Half Life 2 wasn't released as a launch title for Xbox "2".
Atarinvader #16 Posted September 7, 2005 I wouldn't be shocked at all if Half Life 2 wasn't released as a launch title for Xbox "2". I would, EA, who have picked up the rights to HL2, have just confirmed it for Xbox.
Hydian #17 Posted September 9, 2005 I can think of reasons to play half life 2 without an internet connection. It *is* a stand alone game after all. We own a copy and Steam is pretty annoying. The studdering...when I first installed it, the studdering was horrible. I changed the mouse from USB to PS2 and the studdering went away.
