I bought this game awhile ago(the genesis version) and it looks like a great old game. I'd really like to play it but i seem to be having a prblem with it. At the beginning of the game i go and buy a sword and equip it. Then when i go to fight and hit the attack button it doesnt show the sword or any motion at all. I have found that i can kill enemies by getting close to them and hitting the attack button many times but it is pretty difficult and not fun. I dont think thats the way the game was meant to be played. If any of you own or have played this game please help me out-thanks

It has been a very long time since I played Ys 3 on my Genesis. I do own it. I am fairly certain that like most RPG type games...you have to actually equip that sword once you buy it. Then when you get to the action sequences the sword will already be drawn and you start hacking away from point A to point B on the other side.
