diggs130 #1 Posted March 4, 2005 What would your thoughts be?I won a auction asked the seller if I paid extra for delivery confirmation. His response was not at this time do to a series of events(unexplained),but will offer it in the future. Then says he recommends the insurance! Why the hell would you not be able to add delivery confirmation on usps mail in the US!I asked him to explain further!Just looking for some thoughts before I pay him Im think he's going to rip me off with such a lame answer! holygrailvideogames.com #2 Posted March 4, 2005 What kind of feedback does the seller have? You could just post a link to the auction.
Mindfield #3 Posted March 4, 2005 Sounds like a steaming load to me. Delivery confirmation is always an option with methods that offer it. I can think of no reason he would be unable to offer it unless he was planning on ripping you off -- especially when he suggests getting insurance. Albert #4 Posted March 4, 2005 That is kind of odd. Maybe the seller doesn't want to spend the time to fill out the Delivery Confirmation receipt (not that you even really need to fill it out)? If you print Priority Mail postage online (through the USPS site), you get Delivery Confirmation for free. If you print Priority Mail postage through Stamps.com or Endicia.com, you also get it for free. Normal USPS Insurance also requires you to fill out a form, so overall this is a bit odd. ..Al
sku_u #5 Posted March 4, 2005 Unless he's sending you a standard letter, delivery confirmation's always an option when mailing something. That doesn't sound right. Link?
oldgames #6 Posted March 4, 2005 Seems more than a little odd to me. I've always viewed insurance as protecting the buyer and delivery confirmation as protecting the seller. Tracking is included in UPS shipping, but for the few auctions that I ship via USPS, if the price is more than $15, I always spend the 60 cents so that I can prove I shipped. kheffington #8 Posted March 4, 2005 well, you are paying for the delivery, so you call the shots in how you wanted to be sended to you. I always use delivery confirmation on mailed shipments because it is basically free with electronic mail and provides proof of shipping. However, I don't really think in the Ebay shipping situation that it can be said that you call the shots on how something is shipped because you pay for the shipping. You are limited by the shipping terms in the auction. This does not mean that you can't request different shipping auctions and maybe the seller will agree to do it. It does mean that you are pretty much stuck with the shipping options listed in the auction unless the seller is willing to accommodate your requests. There is no reason that I can think of for refusing to use deliver confirmation if a buyer wants it and pays for it. I think that however the buyer wants it shipped is what should be delivered unless there is major hassle involved in doing it.
Blackjack #9 Posted March 4, 2005 well, you are paying for the delivery, so you call the shots in how you wanted to be sended to you. Actually, I disagree..... He (should have) agreed to a method of shipping and it's price simply by bidding on the auction. You can't win the auction and then decide that the seller will ship it however you want. With that said, if you want to pay extra for confirmation, any good seller should agree. A link to the auction would help.

There is nothing wrong IF the buyer pays for, to fill the delivy confirmation paper, or tracking number or insurance.
diggs130 #11 Posted March 4, 2005 The seller came thru and agreed to it,he confused dc with a tracking number! So all should be fine, as he has 100% but not very high feedback!Just turned on my radar as he said no so quickly and used strange logic. And I'd rather have dc as it shows me that he mailed something and its on its way.I dont have much of an opinion on the insurance as there seems to be to many factors on collecting on it anyway! Thanks all for the great replies, opinions of others always help
