oldgames #3 Posted March 4, 2005 About 3 years ago, I pulled down 2 boxes from the top shelf in my garage. One had my old Atari and the other had my 2 sons' NES and SNES! I haven't been the same since! Most of my games come from garage sales also, but I don't have nearly as many as you've collected. I'm eagerly awaiting the opening of 'hunting season' also! figgler #4 Posted March 4, 2005 My biggest collection is my NES collection. Ditto. My favourite also. The beauty of my 250 game collection is in it's quality. All good carts, and top notch titles. Name a good title or series, I probably have it. I just love that. Sadly, only about 30 are complete and another 20 have the books. Also worth noting is that I stay away from unliscenced games -only official for me.
christianscott27 #5 Posted March 4, 2005 yep, 100 or so left til i have a complete collection, of loose carts anyways. NES collecting is fun and fairly cheap, and luckily most games enjoyed a pretty wide release so unlike the 2600 the rare stuff isnt impossible to find. theres also a rich area of goofy hardware and collectibles to dig into. although purists might disagree i consider my playchoice 10 with 13 games and 20 mini marquees to be the crown jewel of my NES collection. Dr. Morbis #6 Posted March 4, 2005 My biggest collection is my NES collection. Ditto for me too. Although every system has bucketloads of unplayable crap, I can't believe just how many good games there are on this system. The number of playable games is well over 200 (for me anyway ). MattG/Snyper2099 #7 Posted March 4, 2005 I collect complete games for the nes. It's my 2nd largest collection.
Atariboy2600 #8 Posted March 4, 2005 The Nintendo Entertainment System was my VERY first game console that I payed for my self and I got it 14th street video game store in 1985 when it first came out in the US. It came with The NES unit, a Zapper Gun, Rob the Robot and two games Duck Hunt and Gyromite. Its too my second largest collection of video games second next to Atari^_^ Here's a photo of just some of my NES stuff from Nintendo's Famicom, The NES and NES second model. More photo's of the NES box units will be up soon^_^
jeepnut24 #9 Posted March 4, 2005 Im enjoying it because you can still find the games in the fun spots to look.... ie Not Ebay.... Ill probably only go after the games I have a desire to play, but that should keep me busy a while. BTW, Id be willing to take one of those contras in the wild... Tempest #10 Posted March 4, 2005 I have a huge NES collection (around 350-400 games). However I'm still missing some key items: Working FDS Stack Up (complete) Boxed System I'm not even sure if my ROB works anymore. I'll have to test him out. While I collect all games for the system, I'm mostly interested in the 1st and 2nd wave releases (The ones with the pixelated box art) because those still have an early 80's feel to them. I'm only missing Stack Up, Mahjong (2 player), Popeye Spelling Game, and Othello to complete that set. Tempest
Snoopy #11 Posted March 4, 2005 While my main interest is still Atari, I have started to lean more towards classic NES games and accessories the past few years. This is mainly because they are more abundant at yard sales these days, and its rare for me to find much atari stuff anymore. At most yard sales the past few years I have been able to get a box of games and stuff for a few dollars. Sort of how it used to be for Atari games. Collecting for the NES is fun because you can still find stuff in the wild regularly.
n8littlefield #13 Posted March 4, 2005 I'm a more casual collector, just started recently trying to build up a collection. The NES is my largest collection right now, but I'm trying to be selective in my collecting (ie. building up a good collection, rather than a large collection). I'm currently trying to build a collection for the NES/SNES and Genesis while avoiding the temptation to use ebay. I just find the hunt in the wild more fun also I don't want to have a bunch of carts that just aren't worth playing. So while I say I'm collecting NES games, I'm certainly not trying to build up a complete collection.
joeybastard #14 Posted March 4, 2005 I collect for NES, have about 200 games.
Hydian #15 Posted March 4, 2005 I have a ton of NES games, but I don't really collect for it. I'm debating trying to dump them to make room (and a little cash.) I missed the NES generation of gaming so I don't have that nostalga to drive me.
Atariboy2600 #16 Posted March 4, 2005 Late night I took photos of some of my Fanicom and NES box consoles from my collection for a POSTER hope you NES lovers like it^^

SumerNivek #18 Posted March 4, 2005 There is a guy on GameFAQs that has a complete US released game set...including the Panesian (sp?) games. In fact, his username is Panesian. He is now working on a complete set of PAL/European games.

hattg #20 Posted March 4, 2005 I "collect" mainly for the NES. I am always picking up others stuff, but that is my main thing. I am somewhere in the upper 500s, with over 200 CIB in that. Was lucky enough to even find a stack-up set, parts and tray, at the swap meet, with the ROB and cart for $11. Always looking to trade to boost my collection and yours, so let me know. Can check my list from my link in profile. I do my best to keep it up to date, but like most, lack of time to dedicate to it means errors once in a while. Chickybaby #21 Posted March 4, 2005 I have a ton of NES games, but I don't really collect for it. I'm debating trying to dump them to make room (and a little cash.) I missed the NES generation of gaming so I don't have that nostalga to drive me. Well if you decide to dump some me an hubby are in PA as well. We have maybe about 200 NES games ourselves. Probably going to sell our DW 2 & 4 though and I guess they are our "most valuable" games I think we have, except maybe for the pac man's but those are among my favorite games to play. All our games are loose with good labels and for the most part I've found the games are fairly inexpensive to buy. Boxed games usually take up a lot of room so I don't really care about that. I didn't think a lot of people would collect for the system. It always impresses/amazes me to see people with complete or almost complete sets of games for multiple systems. I just wonder where the people live w/ all the games? We use Cart commander to keep track of games how about you guys?
figgler #22 Posted March 5, 2005 Probably going to sell our DW 2 & 4 though... Please oh please keep me posted on this, particularly 4 as I have had a terrible time finding it for any reasonable cost
madmjennifer #23 Posted March 5, 2005 NES was my first console and it's now my favorite to collect for, followed closely by the SNES. I have around 90 games now, mostly collected from thrift stores although about 15 were from my childhood. I don't usually buy games off ebay because it's just not as fun as finding them in the wild. That and shipping is outrageous.
wrldstrman #24 Posted March 5, 2005 actually pa has two of the bigger flea markets I know of....pereolopis and the meadowlands.
inextremis staple #25 Posted March 5, 2005 My NES collection is drastically different from my Atari one. The games I have for it (only about 20) are all games that I really enjoy playing. I can't say the same for 120+ 2600 games I have. But I collect it nonetheless and enjoy it. is
