Mindfield #4 Posted March 5, 2005 Can I ask ya...Where do they sell that stuff? I haven't seen it anywhere! Thanks... Hobby stores, many department stores. There are various brands -- Goo Gone, Goof Off, etc. Basically any napthalene or toluene-based liquid will work. Just use it very, very sparingly. It can remove ink from labels just as easily as the ink from the sharpie.

I thought Goo Gone was only used to remove adhesive sticker residue?
video game addict #6 Posted March 5, 2005 My local Wally world has it! And Home Depot I think has it too, possibly other like places. Whats the date on that label? Is that an '86 Atari Corp label? Are they really silver foil or silver grey?
holygrailvideogames.com #7 Posted March 5, 2005 I have used Goop to remove marker from cartridges before. It did remove part of the original writing on a Chuckwagon cart so be careful.

Christophero Sly #10 Posted March 5, 2005 That is the first time I've seen this variant. It would have to be 'coxed'. I've already spent too much this month, so I can "justify" waiting on this one. Nonetheless, my pointer lingered over that BIN for a while.
SS #11 Posted March 5, 2005 Fine. I BINed it. We'll see if the marker comes off or not.

glitch #17 Posted March 6, 2005 Hobby stores, many department stores. There are various brands -- Goo Gone, Goof Off, etc. Basically any napthalene or toluene-based liquid will work. Stick w/ Goo Gone. Goof Off & Oops and others like those are extremely harsh and can possibly do more damage than help. I've actually had Goof Off eat through the plastic before. It did get rid of the paint splatter but left a burn like mark. Goo Gone is a much milder especially on labels & cheaper plastics. And it has a pleasant citrus scent You have to work a little harder w/ Goo Gone sometimes but I trust it a lot more.
Mindfield #18 Posted March 6, 2005 Goo Gone is citrus based, I believe. Goof Off and the others use either napthalene or toluene. Naptha is relatively safe (it's basically lighter fluid) though it can remove parts of the labels if you're not careful. Toluene is harsh stuff. It eats plastic. It is commonly used is as blanket wash for offset printing presses.

SS #23 Posted March 10, 2005 Considering the BIN, take a chance. Fine. I BINed it. We'll see if the marker comes off or not. I took that chance. A nice "Ms. Pac-Man" cartridge arrived at my door today. I hope that I can work this out with the seller.

SS #25 Posted March 11, 2005 I just got this email from the seller : I am really sorry for the mix up I just sent an email to the person who was to be getting ms pac man as I am pretty sure they have your asteroids. I should be getting the game back and I will send it off to you as soon as I do but in the mean time I will issue you a refund and just send you the game for your trouble. Again I am sorry for the mix up. So far, so good; at least I got my money back. I'll let y'all know when and if I get the game.
