AlexKIDD #1 Posted March 6, 2005 just wondering what turbo grafx games you guys like... my favorites are: galaga '90 bonks revenge blazing lazers ninja spirit
Flojomojo #2 Posted March 6, 2005 Devil's Crush is almost good enough to make we want a Turbo of my own. Fortunately, the new graphical optins in MagicEngine made me change my mind. It's OK 'cos I have the Genesis version, right?
J.Max #3 Posted March 6, 2005 Blazing Lasers The "Crush" games Bonk 3 Air Zonk Galaga 90 Soldier Blade Final Soldier CD games: Dracula X (duh.) Spriggen Download Valis Spriggen 2 Macross Sapphire
joeybastard #4 Posted March 6, 2005 I like my TG16 alot. I especially like Neutopia, Valis, the 2 Bonk's I have(1st and 2nd), but the best reason for a TG16 is Military Madness and Galaga
SumerNivek #5 Posted March 6, 2005 I just got my very first TG 16 and CD on Friday! And yesterday, I got two games in the mail from TZD. Buster Bros. and It Came From the Desert. Buster Bros. is pretty good...It Came From the Desert takes me back to the early 90's when FMV was all the rage! I also have Ys Book I and 2 on the way, as well as R-Type, Galaga '90, and Alien Crush. The one game I need to get, however, is Splatterhouse! All in all, I have to say that I think the TG 16 is better then the Genesis for the kinds of games I want, but just under the SNES.
sega saturn x #6 Posted March 6, 2005 Why the genesis has all of those kind of games and the second and third splatter house. The only games i found that i liked for this very exspensive system were galaga 90 and blazing lazers thats it. Keep in mind i own like a total of 8 games on it. JB #7 Posted March 6, 2005 Macross 2036 and Rondo of Blood. My PCEngine experience is very limited.
kevin242 #8 Posted March 6, 2005 nobody has any love for the Legendary Axe series? I loved both of those games. Another great game was the Gauntlet ripoff Dungeon Explorer. Almost makes me wish I didnt sell my TG-16 or Express.
Blur2040 #9 Posted March 6, 2005 I have a PC engine. I think Legendary Axe is sort of primative, both in looks and gameplay. Parodious and any games in the Soldier Series will rock your socks off.
cvga #10 Posted March 6, 2005 Although you can play it on almost every system now, the TG-16 was the first system that I ever played Bomberman on. I rented it when the game I really wanted to get wasn't available. Five player bomberman is an excellent game!!! I also remember playing the RPG mode of Final Lap Twin and thinking that it was an interesting mix of a racing and RPG game. Like everyone else, I also really like the Bonk series, Devil's Crush, Military Madness, and Galaga 90.
AlexKIDD #11 Posted March 6, 2005 i have legendary axe and dungeon explorer, both pretty good in my opinion, splatterhouse looks cool but i dont own it yet since its somewhat expensive, oddly enough the genesis ones are just as hard to find
liquid_sky #12 Posted March 6, 2005 Military Madness.. the Twinbee port is good too but not released in America. Hudson's Lode Runner title is also megasweet, cant remember the name of it but Ive got it on my cell phone
tiggerthehun #13 Posted March 6, 2005 Devils Crush and Motorotor! Now that's a 5 player game with some teeth to it!!!
shep #14 Posted March 6, 2005 I like my TG16 alot. I especially like Neutopia, Valis, the 2 Bonk's I have(1st and 2nd), but the best reason for a TG16 is Military Madness and Galaga 90 I'm with Joey here on Neutopia. This is an excellent Zelda-ripoff!
Clint Thompson #15 Posted March 6, 2005 Great.... I don't have a TG16 and have never played one... all this talk is making me wanna get one!
UK WOMBLE #16 Posted March 6, 2005 Theres a lot of games i like on this system, in fact the only conversion I really hate is chase HQ, its bloody awful on the pc engine.. These are all cool : parasol stars rtype 1 + 2 splatterhouse bomberman 94 galaga 88 darius plus ninja spirit newzealand story Probably my favourite system. SumerNivek #17 Posted March 6, 2005 Sega Saturn X, why? Because the TG 16 was and still is the only console that got a port of Galaga '88, called Galaga '90 on the TG 16. The Game Gear got a port also, but that is a handheld that I don't include when talking about consoles. =) Also, the Crush series is still the best video pinball games every created (in my opinion). Lastly, the TG 16 CD looks cooler then the Sega CD, in my opinion again. Those are a few reasons why I like the TG 16 better then the Genesis.
AlexKIDD #18 Posted March 6, 2005 Great.... I don't have a TG16 and have never played one... all this talk is making me wanna get one! go for it! it's an excellent system and you can get one on 4jays.com if you dont want to bother with ebay
Ferris #19 Posted March 7, 2005 Great.... I don't have a TG16 and have never played one... all this talk is making me wanna get one! go for it! it's an excellent system and you can get one on 4jays.com if you dont want to bother with ebay If you're really just getting into TurboGrafx-16 there's alot to explore, it's really a great system, especially if you go with a TurboDuo or a TG16 w/ TGCD. I recently launched a new site that details all of these systems you may want to check it out - www.TurboGrafx-16.com I have too many "favorite" TurboGrafx games to mention, most of them are the aforementioned Galaga '90, Military Madness, the Bonks, Alien Crush, etc. But I often have a thing for games that nobody else ever seemed to like, games that have been seriously underappreciated that in my opinion arent bad games at all. For the past two or three weeks straight ive been playing Victory Run and doing quite well at it. A lot of gamers dislike that game but thats only because they dont have the patience to learn the right game tactics. In my opinion Victory Run is the most well thought-out racer of its generation and takes different aspects of driving condition, wear, tear and damage all into consideration. While I have to admit I like the arcade version of Out Run better, Victory Run just has more thought and depth. Dungeon Explorer is also another good one. Yeah its like gauntlet but it's still a fun game and cannot be overlooked for that platform. Another great game is JJ & Jeff... although Kato & Ken, the Japanese PC Engine counterpart is *much* funnier. Some of the best TG16 titles came really late in the game during the TurboDuo's reign. Bomberman '93 was one of my all-time favorite games. Also the 2002 homebrew Duo title "Implode" is a great twist on Tetris & Dr. Mario.
kevin242 #20 Posted March 7, 2005 I'm with Joey here on Neutopia. This is an excellent Zelda-ripoff! I forgot about Neutopia that's good too.. I rem thinking the title screen was pretty impressive back in the day. For those that found Leg Axe primitive (lol arent all these games primitive?) Leg Axe II is a completely different game but I think both are good in their own right.
joeybastard #21 Posted March 7, 2005 UK WOMBLE mentioned Ninja Spirit which I really like too. The funny part about NS is that I've had it since I got my TG16 about 2 years ago but I somehow overlooked it and never played it until last week. I was looking at my stuff and said,"What the hell is Ninja Spirit? When did I get that?" That's what happens when you have 18 systems and actively collect for them all BTW, I picked up Vigilante for the TG16 last week at a Goodwill for .99. It's the first time I've ever seen any NEC stuff in a Goodwill. It's pretty good too but difficult.
Mr_8bit_16bit #22 Posted March 7, 2005 Yes, I love the legendary axe games. I love the bonk games, I love galaga 90. Vigilante on the TG16 is much better than it is on the SMS. Which do you like better, Legendary Axe, or Legendary Axe 2?
SteveW #23 Posted March 7, 2005 The only TurboGraphix stuff I've ever found in a thrift store was an RF converter. Meaning, there was probably a Turbo for sale, but I missed it. I only have about 14 games or so, but my favorites are Bonk III, Splatterhouse, Exile, SideArms, and Alien Crush.
Mr_8bit_16bit #24 Posted March 7, 2005 Tricky Kick was kind of a silly game, but I liked it all the same.
kevin242 #25 Posted March 7, 2005 Yes, I love the legendary axe games. I love the bonk games, I love galaga 90. Vigilante on the TG16 is much better than it is on the SMS. Which do you like better, Legendary Axe, or Legendary Axe 2? The sound for Legendary Axe I was so good, but I really became addicted to Leg Axe II. It was a gorgeous game in it's day... all this talk of the Turbo games is making me want to get an emulator going... what is the most accurate TG-16 emulator out there? ---Kevin
