Cobra Commander #76 Posted March 12, 2005 Good thread, I've been playing N64 this week. I only have a few titles though. I almost forgot I had this system (got it at EB 6 months ago for $17.99) I've started rotating my systems every week or so lately, and realized I only had a few games for it so I picked up a few. I like the N64 carts over used PS1 games I think, it just seems like they are more likely to work properly. I see alot of N64 stuff around for good value, and have come to see the true value of owning this system. thanks for the good ideas on some good titles. shep #77 Posted March 12, 2005 That's sad but true and this happens with more n64 games then any other system i have ever owned. This proves to me that the n64 was in fact aimed at children. I see psx with names on them some times not often but i never see saturn games with names (i have also never met any kids how ever owned a saturn). So because kids own a game console that means its for kids? Since when? I'm sure at least every console has had a kid as an owner. Yes, even your precious Saturn has been owned by kids...for crying out sakes.

Yes, even your precious Saturn has been owned by kids...for crying out sakes. Well, it's not quite that simple... lets see, he says "aimed at children", you read it as "its for kids"...I'd say it's somewhere in between... "had a big appeal to kids"...it was just meant to be a great gaming system, and it was, pretty much inventing the modern platformer and establishing modern (offline) multiplayer gaming. It also had a lot of games that were "Japanese Cute", which some American teenagers think of as "Kiddy". And I guess those games were more "kid friendly", since they didn't have explicit violence or gruesome death or sex, but you know...only very dedicated kids would actually finish any of them, they were challenging and about as comples as anything on the PSX. I have a theoretical respect for the PSX (and the PSone is almost as nifty a design as the GC) and its big library but when I finally got one, a psone..I was ultimately disapointed. I got it for "The Unholy War" (de facto sequel to Archon) and the Arcade emu ports, and really didn't find much else there that the N64 and DC didn't do about as well or better. sega saturn x #79 Posted March 12, 2005 I think people in general just don't take care of this stuff as well as we old timers did Not an old timer but i definetly know what you mean im the only one i know who takes good care of there games. And im not trying to be rude but nintendo has really always been aimed at the 5-12 range of gamers. Not to say older gamers cant enjoy nintendo games even if there isint any mature content to speak of. But mario and friends games (kart, tennis, party) alwyas felt like they were aimed at younger gamers. Since most of them are very cartoonish and whimsical. There not bad because of this it just means there more well suited for younger gamers. And please i seriously dont want to turn this in to a nintendo arguement. And i think i was trying to be so nice about putting that i forgot what i was trying to say.
+kisrael #80 Posted March 12, 2005 5-12? have you ever seen a 12 year old try to get through Zelda:OoT? They don't get very far, even with a guide. Same goes for a lot of their games. Japanese Cute doesnt' equal just for kids, even though its not kid-hostile like GTA3. (And I dig GTA3 as well...)

So by that logic, everything he owns is also "kiddy". What current consoles do you own saturn x?
Stingray #82 Posted March 14, 2005 And im not trying to be rude but nintendo has really always been aimed at the 5-12 range of gamers. Lets see, I got my NES when I was 19, my SNES when I was 23, my N64 when I was 29, my GBA when I was 34... -S
