Probably an old FAQ flogged to death but...

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to use emulator ROMs to manufacture home-made carts?

I am really interested in trying to knock together complete boxed copies of games such as Kabobber.

Any info on what hardware etc. (such as ROM burners) I will need would be very, VERY appreciated.

Has anyone written a homebrew manual for Garfield yet?

The roms you play with the emulator are exact copies of the cartridge rom. so you can burn the rom (.bin file) on a PROM or an EPROM.

but you will need cartridge PCB's and cases,

and a eprom programmer( solder experience and know how to wire)

4K games are easy to burn and put on the pcb, but 8K games and higher need some extra hardware in the cartridge(bankswitching)when you put it on a standart 2764 eprom.

I just ordered my EPROM Pocket programmer today and an eprom eraser. What will I have to do to a 2764 to make it work in a standard cartridge? I know I have asked before, but I get really confused about how to make it go.

Thanks for the info,

Cassidy

What's the difference between PROM and EPROM chips? Is one better than the other?

I have also heard of something called a hex inverter - ??????????
