NES Road Runner Question

Recommended Posts

What exactly is the purpose of the SEED METER at the top of the screen. Thus far I have seen it do nothing, nor do I know what to do if RR moves from one dish to the next. What is the point?

Oh, and what is the item that makes Wiley phase in and out of existence in Level 8? Do I want him to do that, or is it a bad thing?

Eventually if you don't eat enough seed the seed meter depletes, and when it runs out, you die. At least that's how I remember it.

No idea with level 8 because it's been so long, but I think at some point there is a level or two where there are no gadgets you can turn on the coyote.

The seed meter in all versions of Road Runner monitors how much seed you can ignore before you lose a life. Each time you pass up a pile of seed, the meter goes down one. In some (maybe all) versions of the game, the meter also goes down one if you take too long in getting to the next pile of seed.

It's been a long time since I've played the higher levels of the game, but I think the arcade game had a trick where the Road Runner could confuse Wile E. for a period of time, preventing him from chasing the Road Runner. That may be what you're seeing.

nah, in the NES version, you can confound Wiley just by running around him in circles. This was an item, a small silver jar or something, and when Wiley touched it, he began to flicker like he was phasing out of reality for a second, not quite fast enough to be a flicker, but sometimes he was there and sometimes he wasn't.

I rarely miss seed, so the meter rarely moves when I play, that is why I never noticed the effect!

Thanks
