anyone know where i can get a copy of this game other than ebay?

Amazon.com. You can buy used games there. I buy some stuff there once in a while, if the price is right.

Placing a WTB ad in the marketplace forum would likely yield an offer to sell or two.

Try checking around for it locally. The rarity of this game is VASTLY overstated... people just think it's rare because it's always expensive, but it's really not that rare at all. I found my own copy in a local pawn shop (for $10 at that), and I've seen at least one or two other copies in stores around here since then.

The big problem is it's a high-demand game.

A bit less so now that FFChronicles came out, but still high-demand.

You may be able to find it in a indy game store, but you are going to have to pay a little more than market value for the game. There has been a copy in a game store by me for over a year, but no one wants to touch the $70 price tag.

If I ever run across a copy, I'll buy it, but I started playing it the other day from a DreamSNES disc I made a while back. It's interesting, but the D-pad on those DC controllers is infuriating (this is not the first game I've had a problem with it) and it's hard to be accurate with it. DreamSNES usually plays it at about 85%, and while the music is slow, at least it's on key. About the only emulation problem I've seen is areas which obviously should have a "wind" sound have a tone instead.

One thing I do appreciate about CT is its combat system. I really hate those systems with three levels of popup menus, and where the game constantly interrupts you every thirty seconds of movement for a five-minute battle. You can even try to avoid the baddies by carefully walking around them, though there are a few which can't be avoided.

The scrolly menu for items and techs can be a bit unwieldy to go through, but in general combat is not annoying.

I have a copy of the SNES version, but it's broken. You cannot save the game -- at all. I've already tried swapping out the lithium battery to no gain. I suspect its the RAM chip. Not like I can buy replacements, or _get_a_data_sheet_! :x Finding info on obsolete parts really hacks me off!

Now I have the PSx version. It has little animated cutscenes and appears faithful to the original version. Yeah, that'll work.

Hex.
