+johnnywc #1 Posted January 10, 2002 Does anybody know how the booster grip controller (used with Omega Race) works? Specifically, which pin it uses and for which port. In a related question: why did CBS see the need for this controller anyway? Couldn't they have just used "up" for thrust and the button for fire? Does anybody know of a hacked ROM that does this? (or is it even feasible?) Omega Race was always one of my favorites but without a Booster grip I'm kinda out of luck... Thanks,
Tempest #2 Posted January 10, 2002 I assume it just uses the fire button input on the second controller since all it is is a joystick cover with a fire button on top. Tempest
jsoper #3 Posted January 10, 2002 You can use a colecovision controller. Some details at: http://users.erols.com/tiltonj/games/tech/...h/2600cont.html
+johnnywc #4 Posted January 11, 2002 John - Thanks for the info. It looks like the booster grip actually uses Pin 5 and 9 to emulate it's buttons (these are the Paddle A and B pins).
Eckhard Stolberg #5 Posted January 11, 2002 If a Colecovision controller works as a Booster Grip replacement, then the 7800 proline joystick should work too. You just have to unplug the red and the yellow wire from the main board. Then the buttons will connect pin5 & pin6 and pin9 & pin 6 without connecting them to the ground line. This seems to be what the right button on the Coleco joystick does too. Ciao, Eckhard Stolberg
