Bad news all you hopeful European PSP gamers, it appears that Sony's sexy new handheld won't be appearing in Europe for at least some time.

 

Georges Fornay, chief of Sony Computer Entertainment France, announced today that the PSP won't be releasing in Europe for at least "several months." The reason behind the delay, according to Fornay, is to ensure that the company has a solid number of units available for consumers at the unit's launch.

Even though they had to wait, at least there were a couple of worthwhile games for the DS launch (like Wario Ware).

Ah well, all you have to do is wait until the US launch, find out if the thing is indeed region coded and, if it isn't, just import one.

The console (after postage) probably won't be much cheaper than the UK price but the games will be.

Sounds like business as usual for the european video game industry unfortunately... although I did just get my hands on the european versions of Rez and Shenmue II for the Dreamcast, so at least they get SOME perks over there...
