RAM Cart?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone _successfully_ made a RAM cart system for the Atari 2600? I once found schematics, but I never got the thing to work at all. I am still interested in creating a RAM cart reader/writer and carts for the 2600. Is there a place on the internet that has schematics/software to go with it? Thanks in advance.

hi sark,

i have made a cartridge reader/writer and a ram cart, and i am planning to make a site for it in a few weeks. i've made the hard- and software self and it's working great.for now on my software only supports 2K 4K and F8 bankswitching carts to read out. i've made an ram cart with F8 bankswitching too.

when you wants to make you will need an SRAM which you can get from old 486 mainboards

i've got some 62256/24257/5c2568 found working.

but you'll need a constant power for it to hold it memmorie. because of the high poer consumption of these, i've used a sram drom an NES cart which uses like 0,00015 mA and the battery from in.

as soon when i've got a site i will post it

How's the website coming? Do you have schematics? I am very interested in building the reader/writer system, and I have a lot of the parts I will probably need, including a box of old 486 motherboards.

Thanks!
