sandmountainslim #1 Posted March 19, 2005 I bought Wrestlemania for the NES this morning and either I am not takin enough time with it or it is pure crap I thought it would be vastly better to Pro Wrestling for the NES when I saw it but so far I cant tell much of a difference, am I missing something on this one or is it just a bad game? Dones #2 Posted March 19, 2005 It's not you, the games sucks. 100% crapola. There is another one you must avoid like plague, and that is Data East's "Tag Team Pro Wrestling". For the sake of your health and your NES's, don't play this game! On the other hand, you migh want to try Tecmo World Wrestling.
StanJr #3 Posted March 20, 2005 Run while you still have the chance! This one is a stinker. Yet, I recall playing HOURS and HOURS of this with my friend Andy when we were younger and it first came out. And I mean hours. Back then it was the height of technology, now its pure manure. Avoid this and MUSCLE at all costs. You'll have more fun wrestling the guy you bought it from when you try to take it back.
chrisbid #4 Posted March 20, 2005 NES Pro Wrestling held up extremely well over the years
NovaXpress #5 Posted March 20, 2005 Original Pro Wrestling remains the best NES wrestling game ever made, hell I dont think there was a better wrestling game period until WCW-NWO Revenge for the N64. By the time Wrestlemania the game was released, many of those wrestlers were already out of the WWF.
sandmountainslim #6 Posted March 20, 2005 I have never cared alot for Pro Wrestling for the NES but I must admit it is leaps and bounds over this Wrestlemania game. The dude wanted five bucks for it at the thrift but I talked him down to a dollar and still feel stiffed
Atarifever #7 Posted March 20, 2005 The only way to make anyting out of that game is to choose the Million Dollar and and try to beat Andre or Hogan. Then you can enjoy mindlessly running around kicking them and perfecting the lead-them-to-turnbuckle-jump-on-them technique. WCW wrestling for the NES is much, much better. It even has special moves and lets you select which normal moves your wrestler has.

figgler #9 Posted March 21, 2005 WCW wrestling for the NES is much, much better. It even has special moves and lets you select which normal moves your wrestler has. I'll second that. WCW is the best wrestler for NES, even if I can't seem to pin Ric Flair one on one. MUSCLE is also a good game in its one right. Just clear your mind of what you think a wrestling game should be like, and it is possible to have lots of fun with this one
Jess Ragan #10 Posted March 21, 2005 Whoo, boy... I recently played Tag Team Wrestling for an outside project, and indeed, it's hellacious. After a couple minutes, I started wondering if I had any control over the match at all. I loved those graphics, too... they look as though Data East's lead artist suffered serious brain damage before starting the project. Wrestlemania was bad, but not THAT bad. By the way, does anyone remember that issue of Electronic Games where the professional wrestler (who asked that his identity not be revealed by the publisher) complained at length about the wrestling games he played. He had some memorable quotes about some of the titles, especially Wrestlemania... "Why are all those things floating around in the ring? The last time that happened to me, I swore off drinking." joeybastard #11 Posted March 21, 2005 Was Tag Team the one that you would grab the other guy and then quickly pick a move from a drop down list? That was on the NES right or am I mixing it up with something else? It's been a looooooooong time since I played any of those.
figgler #12 Posted March 24, 2005 Was Tag Team the one that you would grab the other guy and then quickly pick a move from a drop down list? That was on the NES right or am I mixing it up with something else? It's been a looooooooong time since I played any of those. That's the one. On top of that the game consists of only 2 teams - The Strong Bads and the Ricky Fighters. On the plus side there are a lot of different moves and holds and the more devastating the move, the tougher it is to select and thus execute it - a feature other NES wrestling games don't have. Honestly though, I must say that on a few occassions I have sat down with Tag Team Wrestling for more than an hour and had some decent fun. Maybe I like to root for the underdog games and find a way to enjoy them, or maybe I'm just a sucker for punishment Either way I went to great pains acquiring all of the NES wrestling titles and I'll never let Tag Team go... sandmountainslim #13 Posted March 24, 2005 Ok Fellers, I picked up WCW for the NES today at a pawn for two bucks, I shall see if its better Oh yeah the same shop tried to sell me an opened boxed NES which was obviously used by all the stickers on it with two controllers and zapper for $99 Needless to say I just smiled at em and walked out with my cart. Should have offered em half a pack of cigarettes for $7.50, would have made about as much sense as their offer to me
Jess Ragan #14 Posted March 24, 2005 I gotta be honest with you... I don't like WCW Wrestling very much. Yes, it's got more depth than most NES wrestling titles, but what does that matter if you can never get the opponents in any holds? Four out of five times, they always kick and punch you into the submissive position before you can do the same to them. On top of that, the artwork is kind of stiff and blocky. The game could (and should) have been a lot better. In my opinion, the all-time best wrestling game on the NES is Tecmo World Wrestling. It's got everything you'd want in a wrestling game... smooth graphics, dynamic animation, lots of holds and throws, and a great running commentary that adds a lot of excitement and a touch of humor to every match. It makes all the other wrestling games on the system look like wimpy jobbers. JR
Joe C. #15 Posted April 2, 2005 There is another one you must avoid like plague, and that is Data East's "Tag Team Pro Wrestling". For the sake of your health and your NES's, don't play this game! Wow.. I actually enjoy this game. I've been playing this recently and have yet to beat it. 33 match is the furthest I've gotten before the cpu starts taking over the match by going into his domination mode where he turns a black color and have to chance to make any moves. I love the fact that you have to work to choose what move to execute. graphics.. who needs graphics.. just looks classic to me.
