shadow460 #52 Posted January 1, 2009 I have one switchbox that we had back in the day, and my brother now has the other one. Our original 2600 was tossed a few years ago when it quit working. We acquired a Vader later on, but that was tossed at the same time as the Woody. Our Arcadia brand Supercharger and the games for it were kept, though. I have them now, but they do not get used. I have a Sears Heavy Sixer that is broken, and I have not had time to repair it. I also have a 7800, which meets my gaming needs. I use a Starpath brand Supercharger for their games and as a multicart for and ROMs less than 6K unless I've got a cart of whatever game it is I'm playing. The 7800, while used, is the very first 7800 I've owned, so yeah, it's my original unit.
TROGDOR #53 Posted January 1, 2009 (edited) I still have my original Heavy Sixer, tucked away in the original box. I never use it. I prefer to do all my gaming on emus to prevent wear and tear on the hardware. I also have my original Intellivision II system. I had a Colecovision system, but I sold that on usenet in the mid 90s. eegad #55 Posted January 4, 2009 I still use my original 6 switch model. I only play on occasion....I have everything on emu's on the PC as well, but when I'm in the mood, I prefer to play on the original hardware.
aftermac #56 Posted January 4, 2009 Still use my original 2600 and 7800. I still have all of my original games, a lot of which are boxed... a few of which are still sealed.
Rik #57 Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) Sure do!I got my 6 switch woody around 80-81.Its still working great. It was a Factory Reconditioned one,for $120,which was a great deal back then,as new ones were just under $300 CDN.I bought it with my own money that i earned over the summer holidays, really special. Same story for my ColecoVison, except it was a demo, for like less than half of the retail price, still working great also. Rik #58 Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) Unfortunately I disassembled my 2600 in the late 80s/early 90s... the pieces are scattered amongst landfills across Tennesee, I'm sure It was a Sunnyvale Heavy Sixer, too :/ If you dont mind me asking, why did you take it apart? :Edit, didnt realise this is such an old post,oh well, never know. TornadoTJ #59 Posted January 7, 2009 I still have my original that I bought for $149 when I was 14 years old. I don't play on it though, I do all my 2600 gaming on a 7800. The original does still work.
phuzzed #60 Posted January 12, 2009 I still have my original Atari 2600, but I don't play it, as I use the 7800 for my gaming needs. My 7800 and NES are my originals, and never will be replaced.
famicommander #61 Posted January 12, 2009 I play 2600 games on my 7800. My "original" 2600 is the four switch Woody that my dad had before I was born (1990). I more or less inherited the 2600, and NES, a Genesis, a Super Nintendo, a Game Boy, and a Game Gear from all of my brothers and my parents over the years. The first system that was actually mine was the Saturn (got it for Christmas with Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter 2, Daytona USA, and the Bootleg Sampler when I was a kid). But anyway, the four switch sits safe and sound in a box in my closet, along with my PS1. I'd like to have them both out, but I don't have space for all of my video game consoles at the moment. But the rest of my consoles you see in my signature are hooked up (the Wii and Xbox in the living room, the rest in my bed room). I also have a Heavy Sixer, which I bought last year along with my 7800 on craigslist for 20 dollars.
