Katamari Damacy coming to DS

Recommended Posts

It's about time someone took this system seriously for a change. Namco seems to be the only company outside of Nintendo themselves offering truly substancial titles for the Nintendo DS. Keep 'em comin', Namco!

While it's nice to see it getting exposure, I have to wonder what game control will be like on the DS. One of the nicest aspects of KD on the PS2 is being able to play it using the dual shock portion of the controllers.

Yet another thing making me want to get a DS. Though I agree, I'm not sure anything you could do with the touchpad would

feel quite as instinctively right for moving a giant ball as the two sticks do.

Not that I needed any more incentive to get a DS... it's not like I'll be able to resist once Animal Crossing comes out.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. How well is it going to work without at least one analog stick?

My friend (who frighteningly enough predicted this game well before it was announced) said that the DS would be the PERFECT system for Katamari Damacy, since you could actually push the ball yourself rather than using two joysticks to guide it along. I think he may be right about this.

I asked a question. How well will it play on the DS without analog sticks??? I didn't predict anything. :?

He's just poking fun (not at you), in light of recent tirades in other threads ;)

How do you know it doesn't have analogue sticks? You haven't even played it.

Okay.. that was ridiculous.. I just wanted to see what it felt like to be in someone elses shoes.. ...not good.

I think it might play okay with a graphical representation of the Katamari on the lower screen and the gameplay on the upper screen - you could use the styus/thumb nub to roll the ball in the direction of choice and hold a button to use "tank style" controls...

I'm betting that multiplayer would be pretty cool. While I've never tried it on my PS2, if I could connect to players wirelessly anywhere I'd surely take advantage of it

Multiplayer is fun.. but can get confusing. The game lends itself to multiplayer very well, in that you feel a genuine sense of urgency to get your Katamari growing because your opponent can pick you up if they get bigger faster...

I don't even have one.. and the one time I wanted to try one out a TRU it wouldn't boot up...

I'm not a big fan of handhelds...

Please notice that I was joking!!! I don't want sku_u to be right about the Xbox destroying communication skills!

Let me correct that, as "tank style" doesn't fit..

I would suggest that when you roll the ball with a button pressed, you move in that direction without facing that direction...

That would be awesome! I hope they wait to polish the game up. I am becoming a disgruntled DS owner as of late

Jeepnut--go back and reread the last few pages of this thread to understand what he's referring to:

Lost Monkey was just joking around with you. There are a few people here (not you) who forget this is not an Xbox or Playstation 2 centered site and cannot understand why in a classic gaming community the people here do not get excited about the next generation of game systems so they fly off the handle whenever someone posts something they see as an attack on their system.

It's as silly as one of us going to an Xbox forum and getting offended if the people there who do not like or care about the latest goings on with the Atari VCS, but that's desides the point.

This is great news and i for one feel that a touch pad will add a degree of control not found in analog. I think nights in t dreams would rock with a touch pad as well.
