NES Code Name Viper

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else like this game? I have been playing way too much of it lately and loving every second. Great graphics, music, style and gameplay.

I can't figure out how to input the passwords though and have to start from scratch everytime :dunce: Not always a bad thing since the game is quite fun, but it'd be useful to start at the last level I reached if only in the interest of time ...

Am I missing something?

Every time you complete about three stages, you will receive a password.

I am currently playing it. It's neat but it's hard (specially at later stages). The final boss is impossible! It's basically a "kill him before he kills you" showdown (usually it takes one hit from him to kill you). Unless I cheat with my game gear, I think I am gonna try it on easy mode.

This was one of my favorites back in the day as when my uncle got the game we played it till no end! :)

*well, until the nintendo decided it was time to have strobe lights instead of game play*

yeah I've got a code, but when I start the game, I can't figure out how to input it. Seriously. There's no option menu or anything. I have no idea what I'm missing .... :???:

Someone please point out for me what is surely going to be blatantly obvious in hindsight

This game is cool though, eh? It reminds me a lot of Shinobi, only done better IMO.

Tough game, but well designed. It borrows a whole lot from the Namco release Rolling Thunder, yet manages to be better than the NES version of that game.

I *think* I may have beaten this one back in the day... I'm not sure. In the end, you have to face off against the cigar chomping commander who was ultimately behind the drug smuggling operation you're sworn to stop. That was a rather odd plot twist... I'm surprised he didn't inform me in a deep, labored voice that he was my father, too.

The "Password" option should be on the title screen.

On the title screen, push then to choose "Password".

Use the D-Pad (up and down) to choose the number, (left and right) to go to the next digit, and then again to finish the code.

I know this sounds way too easy, so I suspect there is something wrong with your cartridge or maybe the ROM version is different(?) Even if it isn't showing, you might try running through this process blindly; I've had graphics not show up if a cartridge is dirty or isn't making good contact inside.

:? Good luck!

I don't play ROMs as a rule, so maybe the cart is my problem. I swear there isn't a password option there that I can see.

I'll give 'er (another) good cleaning and try the blind technique if I need..we'll see.

I appreciate the help ;)
