video game addict #2 Posted March 24, 2005 Is there a USB plug coming out of the bottom How does that work? And why does label have Space Invaders on it exactly?
+FujiSkunk #3 Posted March 24, 2005 It's a flash drive, that's all. He took the guts out of one of those little pen drives and put them into a Space Invaders cartridge. Kind of a neat idea, but nothing technically groundbreaking.
+FujiSkunk #4 Posted March 24, 2005 I should read bettern before I post. He actually created his own cartridge label. Why he based it on the Space Invaders label is anybody's guess. I assume it was or is one of his favorites.
Vic George 2K3 #5 Posted March 24, 2005 Darn. I almost thought it was going to be one for the Atari 2600. LOL
rasty #6 Posted March 24, 2005 I think I could use those 128MB instead of the usual 128bytes... Regards, Rasty.-
vb_master #7 Posted March 25, 2005 He could of interfaced the PCB contacts with the flash drive, and made an adapter that changed it back into USB. Make it look a bit more official.
Albert #8 Posted March 26, 2005 Interesting, although I don't think that a USB flash drive is an ideal match to marry with a large, clunky 2600 cartridge. Another use which would be very cool, would be to turn a 2600 cart into a small, portable Firewire hard drive. You should be able to fit a small laptop drive into the space of a 2600 cart, and I've seen portable FW drives about that size before. The opening on the bottom could be used to place the FW connector (or cable), and you could drill a small hole for power and/or activity LEDs on the top, where the end label is. ..Al
