Different (C) Issues

Recommended Posts

Evening;

I'm gauging the rarity of some of my 2600 game cartridges I picked up at my father's house yesterday that I haven't looked at in years. I'm seeing some differences with some of the rarity guide information - Dig Dug is one example. AAge lists both a © 1987 and © 1988 (I believe it's 1988), but I have a © 1983. Is this a difference?

It's yet another slight variation. It may or may not be rare. We are going to be moving those minor variations out of the main database because it's misleading. They will probably be moved to the games profile page so the information is still there somewhere.

Interesting. You see, I wouldn't bother you with such a question except in the case of Dig Dug, for example, it's a 4-5 year difference which could make quite a chang in the rarity of the item. Dig Dug with your © 1987 or so labels is listed as a "2" right now, so I'm wondering if having a © 1983 might bump that higher.

It's hard to say. It's very difficult to track copyright rarity - most people don't care that much, and you can't really use eBay as a tool because people generally don't report the copyright date. You'd have to have people take the time to go through their collections, compile the data, and submit it.

My Dig Dug is copyrighted 1982, so mine must be more Rarer yet.

Actually I have asked about this before and the answer is this -- It is the same rariety unless you are selling it to a label collector. Then it might be worth a little more.

After digging it out and looking it is a 1983 copy of Dig Dug.

I traced down the original Dig Dug message threadI did (It was on page 24 here, took awhile to find ), I had the same situation as PanicPan with my Dig Dug, it wasn't listed here at AtariAge.
