Htbaa #2 Posted March 28, 2005 Alright alright, lame post indeed. I'm just overwhelmed how nice the music from T2K is on a good sound system and I was wondering if there are more games that go great with a nice sound system. So, can no one answer my question because everyone is using mono or stereo sound from their tv?

Alcopoper #4 Posted March 28, 2005 ok, so, here is my little problem with my Jag sound: I have the Jag connected to my Toshiba using this regular (F) connector to my TV. From there I use the "sound out" option (what is meant to go to a VCR - Video & Stereo out) and hooked that up to my receiver. The sound I am getting is crystal clear, but awfully quiet. I have to cank up my receiver all the way to hear it.... Doesn't sound right, does it?? How do you guys hook it up? do you split the signal right after it leaves the Jag?? The Jaguar does not amplify the sound enough. I noticed the same thing when I hooked it up to my reciever. Gunstar told me a cool trick. If you have a Catbox hook the sound from the headphone jack to your reciever with a 1/8" to RCA cable I do believe it is. Then crank the volume up on the Catbox. It makes a HUGE difference. Gunstar #6 Posted March 29, 2005 ok, so, here is my little problem with my Jag sound: I have the Jag connected to my Toshiba using this regular (F) connector to my TV. Your sound is whack becuase your still using the RF modulator hooked to your TV like cable, and it doesn't work as well as cable TV does in this way as far as sound goes. You need to get Jaguar composite video or S-video cables, surely your Toshiba has inputs for one or more of these, if it doesn't, then your Toshiba is whack and you need to get a new TV first. Hook the cable up to the Jaguar, send ONLY the video out cord to the TV, then hook the left and right RCA audio directly to your Stereo system or surrond sound system, or to any component in that system that has 2 stereo RCA jacks (L/R), though if you do that, both that component and the Jaguar will need to be on. You will then be able to experience the true power of 16-bit CD quality 3D sound, from two or more speakers, Iron Soldier 2 even supports surround, but I think all other games are stero or 3D stereo. Never plug anything that you want to have good sound quality into a TV and then out to a sound system, the TV will always deliver inferior quality out than what it recieved. If this is the ONLY way that you have to get the Jaguar through to your sound system, then that is that, but it's the worst way to do it. The Jaguar's sound output is pretty low to start with, you will easily see a difference in sound levels if you have the Jag and another system hooked up the same way, You'll be turning it up for the Jag, or down for the other system. If you have a pre-amp of some type, it's even better to sendthe jaguar through it and then out to the regular amplifier or surround system. I personally, have my Jaguar hooked up S-video on my Sanyo, then I have the left and right audio going to my Sony amplifier and then out to my surround sound system. If the device takes advantage of more than the left and right audio inputs to the amp, then it gets plugged directly into my surround system and bypass the amplifier (like Dolby digital on my DVD). Gunstar #7 Posted March 29, 2005 Of course I'm of the mindset that no matter how good the sound is on a TV, it's never as good as a good sound system, even a cheap surround sound system you pick up for $50 at Wal-mart is better than your TV's sound. I promise.
Gunstar #8 Posted March 29, 2005 Alright alright, lame post indeed. I'm just overwhelmed how nice the music from T2K is on a good sound system and I was wondering if there are more games that go great with a nice sound system. So, can no one answer my question because everyone is using mono or stereo sound from their tv? To answer your question, most Jaguar games have pretty good to excellent sound hidden in them and it is not revealed unitl you hook it up to a good stereo or surround system, and yes, it sounds even better on a surround sound system, becuase even the games that have 3D stereo will sound much more 3D in surround than stereo, and stereo games will still play out the rear speakers giving you quadraphonic stereo. Most Jaguar games have music that sounds good and some games have fantastic sound effects, many of which you've never heard before in mono or just two speaker stereo, just becuase the levels are so low, but the surround picks the sounds up better. Hover Strike and Hover Strike CD both have excellent 3D stereo sound through the right sound system, but the cartridge's left and right audio are reversed for some strange reason, so it sucks. Battlesphere is the same way, NBA Jam has fantastic 3D sound through surround. I-war, Battlemorph, Missle Command 3D, Wolfenstein 3D, Cannon Foddder, Iron Soldier, Power Drive Rally, Rayman, but even games like Checkered Flag and Club Drive have awsome music int stereo or surround. Basically, all the best Jag games, also have the best sound if you have the setup to handle it.
Paolo #9 Posted March 29, 2005 I don't know how things work over there, but here in Europe, RF is not a stereo output (unless it comes from a stereo TV station). No VCR, NO console does modulate in STEREO the audio signal to the RF output. And I don't think that Jag does this expensive job, while it just has the stereo signal available... So, drop your RF cable: bad video signal, worst audio signal, NO STEREO ( aaarghh )
Htbaa #10 Posted March 29, 2005 Lucky me has a official Atari RGB cable . I haven't used RF on any console for years now! The screen and sound is just horrible, I can't stand it.
Paolo #11 Posted March 31, 2005 I made my own cable, by using a 'female comb connector' (is that right?) and took out of the Jag: RGB Composite video Stereo audio all wired separately, so I can hook anythig anywhere That is, I can just have a single SCART cable connected to the mono TV set in my kids' room, or to my widescreen stereo TV set, or video to widescreenTV and audio to wireless headphones (you know, nightly) or to Surround system ...so fun! Gunstar #12 Posted April 2, 2005 I made my own cable, by using a 'female comb connector' (is that right?) I've heard it called that before, but when ever I look to buy one from an electronics dealer, they refer to them as card-edge or PCB-edge connectors; at least in the U.S.
justclaws #13 Posted April 6, 2005 Hello, Man, my brother gave me a nice 2.1 sound system which has a lot of power. I played Tempest 2000 and man, that sound was whack! Everybody that owns a Jaguar MUST have a good sound setup, this is great!Any other game that's wonderful at 2.1? Nice move! I bought myself a 5.1 sound system for Christmas, very cheap though, but great sounds for the Jag as well as N64 and DVDs! NBA Jam offers Qsound, and most Jag games benefit from the balance of such a system. I always loved warping in T2K with the volume up. First thing I did back in 1994 was connect the Jag to my stereo/hi-fi, and turn the volume up. Val D'Isere, all sorts of games, benefit lots! Enjoy it, but don't get carried away and fall out with your neighbours! Cheers, JustClaws.
