I came up on a unopened Rescue on Fractalus

Recommended Posts

I was shocked to see it for sure since I thought it was a pretty rare game. I am really tempted to open this up and play it but before I do I was wondering what I might get for it on Ebay.

Rescue on Fractalas, Ballblazer, and Gremlins were some of the rarest titles to appear.

Before collecting on the consoles took off, in the mid-80s when Atari bought the Federated store chain, they dumped a lot of these titles (and Atari hardware) there.

In the mid-90's, my buddy talked about the 99 cent stores in Southern California having Atari computer games for a buck. I went into not one, but two stores. What did I find? Shelves full of Gremlins, Rescue, and Ballblazer. I bought both stores out.

3 of the best games for the 5200, and they didn't see the light of day until long after the death of the 5200

For the $50 range I'd definately auction it off but a possibility of it going for less than $15 I'll probably just keep and play it. Although I will feel a little be funny about opening up a rarish 20 year old game.

I got a brand new one for $15 from 4jays. It's worth every penny. It is, without a doubt, one of the most fun (and impressive) titles for the 5200. I'd play it, if I were you.

Oh I am. It's still in the box unopen but I may get around to giving it play tonight or at least sometime within the next few nights. Although most of my free gaming time has gone to God of War and Tempest 2K the last week or so.

I hear ya on GoW. Fun game!

Rescue was sure an out-of-the-blue experience for me. Impressive, and fun as heck. It's the game that made me really interested in the 5200. One year later, I'm seven carts short of a complete set. Crazy.

Last year, I managed to win both Fractalus and Gremlins on eBay, from seperate sellers, for around $10 each, both with boxes, only the first sealed. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not. :ponder:

Having said that, I find Fractalus too easy in many ways; one game could last me more than a half hour, at which point I become bored and let myself do stupid things  I play it with a 7800 stick, so perhaps this digital-ness affects it in some way? Note to self -- try starting on the higher levels...

Gremlins I found fun at first too, but within a week I'd made it to Night 99!
