Intellivision II controllers

Recommended Posts

Did anybody make 3rd party controllers for these systems? I got one the other day and love the graphics and sound, but these controllers suck. I might have to costomize it.

You can also try the Sears controllers, if you can get ahold of them. I'm pretty sure that they'll work on an INTV II. I don't find them as bad as the INTV II ones.

Your best bet would be to just get an original Intellivision. The Intellivision II controllers are very difficult to use. The original Intellivision might now have the best controllers but they are a lot better than the Intellivision II controllers.

I actually like the Inty II controllers...the buttons are a bit looser...I really wish I could find a Wico stick...I think I'm the only one who likes them.

Do you like the Colecovision Wicos? I like Atari Wico sticks, but the Intellivision Wico stick is similar to the Wico for the Colecovision with the super hard fire buttons and overlay buttons and generally awkward design.

Can the controllers on an INTY 1 be replaced. I thought I read somewhere that you could unplug them if you opened the case...

Yes, you can swap out INV I contollers, by taking the system apart. It's a bit of work though, as the system is a bit mazy once you pop the top. Has anyone ever experimented with porting other controllers to the intellivision? I haven't messed with it myself. Maybe I'll give it a shot after my 5200 arcade stick is done.

Yep, I've done genesis, jaguar, and psx adapters. It's a lot of soldering though.

How did the Jaguar controllers work out for you? That sounds like the ideal solution. But do they work well with an Intellivision?

Not too bad, 8 directions instead of 16. I like analog thumbsticks much more than dpads but the jag controller has the keypad right there which is handy for some games.

I like the Coleco Wico sticks too...I had them when I was a kid, so I still like them...

About all that was available for the inty were the "stick-on" sticks that stuck a little joystick to the disk. They give the possibility of too much leverage and wear them out sooner, tho. You could make one with double sided sticky tape, a little piece of wood or plastic with a bolt sticking out of it.
