Cassidy Nolen #1 Posted April 19, 2005 Just got the email.. Just a reminder of our Amusement Equipment Auction on Saturday, April 30th in Columbus, Ohio at the Ohio Expo Center. This will be the last auction until September. For information concerning this auction, please contact Jeff Schwartz at 502-551-1866. Should be a good time of year to get games; tax season keeps away buyers, and its too early to stock the summer spots. Cassidy
Mental Vortex #2 Posted April 19, 2005 Whoa! No way. It's my hometown so I'm definitely interested. Anyone ever been to one of these, and if it's worth going if you can't spend a whole lot of dough? I'm curious if you can really get any deals on anything.
Tempest #3 Posted April 19, 2005 If anyone is going and could keep a look out for DECO cassette system items I'd appreciate it. I need more tapes for mine. Tempest
Cassidy Nolen #4 Posted April 19, 2005 Yo Temp, The only ones I have ever seen sell seem to be Burgertime and Bump N Jump. Sometimes, there are "lots" of boards and stuff that sell, and that would be a better place to find some extras I think. Funny story....if you ever do bid on a box of boards, be sure you are bidding on the right one. I bid 150 bucks on a box of what I thought were pac boards...turns out they were the next lot, and I got 21 JAMMA boards. All crap Eh, you win some, you lose some! It was ebay central for the next three months! Cassidy
RavenonesGF #5 Posted April 19, 2005 If I'm not mistaken there is a super auction in Columbus the end of May. I'm not sure if I can make it up on the 30th or not. Hope so because I would love to add some stuff to the basement and pick up an empty cab to mame.

Cassidy Nolen #7 Posted April 22, 2005 I believe this is the type of auction that they do not know who is bringing what. Most of the ones I am on the mailing list for do not have the inventory, but just do the auctioning for what is brought. Might check rgvac and see if anyone knows of the operators that are going. I don't think the VA group is going. Waiting for prices to go up next month. C

Cap5750 #9 Posted June 4, 2005 Last week, I got an itch to build a mame cabinet. I noticed that I just missed out on the auction and now I see that I actually knew about it and posted about it here! So in the past week, I've been evaluating options. I bought a copy of Project Arcade (which is a very good read even if you do nothing). I got a little excited as the author even mentions he had ZERO woodworking skills when he started and was able to complete the project. Heck, I built a VHS tape box in the 8th grade, so I'm a step ahead. But then, I see the tools that are needed. I'm not aware of any friends/family that have these so I'd have to rent or buy them. Some of the rent prices would be as high as buying! Yikes! Next, I've looked at the premade cabinet kits. I really really liked the look of the slikstik, but the price for the cab and cp (~1400.00) is already over my targeted $1000 budget and that still wouldn't include a monitor/pc/speaker combo or the shipping which I believe was around $250. Of course I could start off with my old used amd 750 and a junk monitor to start, but who wants to do that, right? I've had a cable of offers for other things, but haven't quite found what I want just yet. So I continue to sit around and monitor the rec newsgroups, ebay, arcadecontrols.com, etc and who knows...maybe something will turn up.
Flack #10 Posted June 5, 2005 It's too bad you missed the auction. Dead generic cabinets often sell for $25 or less, depending on how complete they are. For those with the woodworking experience of you or I, they make a nice starting point.
