Commodore 64 top 10?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what kind of games for the 64 are considered must plays. Whats your pick? I recently about a week ago hooked up my C64 (finally) after I got another disk drive through ebay and am currently playing an old favorite, Bruce Lee and a strange game called Trolls & Tribulations, I'm hooked again...

Also, has anyone heard if another TV plug in will be made?

time for a dumb question, is the c128 backwards compatible with the c64, and which is better (I have been toying with the idea of getting one...or an ST laptop.

International Karate + is an awesome game, a must have

Bruce Lee

The spy vs spy's

Lode Runner(s)

Manic Miner(s)

Jet Set Willy(s)

Realm Of Impossibility

M.U.L.E

Rick Dangerous (I and II) (I prefer the ST versions, but these are still good)

too many to list, but those are my most favorite

I got a few more now that I'm hooked.

I think the C128 played C64 games but was there a Commodore 14 or something like that? And for the collection minded whats more cool or rare to have, the white or Biege colored C64 or the original one with the brown buttons?

I think the biege one was called C64s but I'm not sure.

Hmmmm as the C64 is my all time favourite computer and I had 1000's of games lets make a short 'must have' list.

1. Paradroid

2. Uridium (still looks amazing today!!!)

3. Starquake

4. Boulderdash (any of them)

5. Elite

6. Drop Zone

7. Parallax

8. Thrust

9. Little Computer People

10. Summer Games II

There are loads of great games, but these are certainly the cream of the crop.

The C128 can be put in a C64 mode which is about 99% compatible. Almost all games will run fine on it.

I prefer the 128 because the keyboard is a little nicer, and it has a beefier power supply which is useful for running extra hardware off the cartridge port, like memory expansions, utility carts, or the SuperCPU.

There was a Commodore Plus/4 and a Commodore 16 - which were compatible with each other, but not the 64.

They're both pretty damn common :) I like the original "breadbox" model simply because it was the original, and it's what I grew up with. And the SID chip is supposedly better.

I have a 128D. It rocks. Less cords!

Bassguitari, Blue Max is pretty damn cool all right, but it's got a bug that causes the flashing objects to stop showing up altogether if you don't hit enough of them within a certain time. This wouldn't be so annoying if you weren't occasionally given flashing things that are out of your range to begin with!

That bug's the only reason it's not on my list. It's easily #11 or #12, though. :)
