It's not worth that much, even boxed. But as always its worth as much as someone is willing to pay, ridiculous or not.

Plus the fact that there's no picture, I cant imagine why someone would be willing to fork over such an insane amount. It is a good game though...

If you look at the bid history, the guy that paid a hundred bucks more than doubled the previous bid.

I was watching it and thinking about bidding, but something about his description of the box being a little mashed and lack of picture made me hesitant, and then when I saw the price shoot up, that was the end.

I saw this one too. Half expected it to go on the low side what with the no picture & brief description on damage. I hope for the winning bidder's sake he saw pics beforehand too!

 

I know I'd be pissed to spend that much money only to receive a beat up box, which is what raised the price in the first place.

My philosophy is that I'll pay up to the price of a new game ($50) for something from 'back in the day' if I'm going to get that level of enjoyment out of it. I paid $40, for example, for Subterranea and Fathom for the 2600. I don't regret it, even if it was a bit high, because I play Subterranea almost every day after work. Can't say that about most of my Xbox/PS2 titles...

I am pretty much the same way with some exceptions like the Songbird Jaguar releases but those may not count as back in the day games. Now I did place a winning $70 bid on a CIB Breakout 2000 for the Jag but since I had $30 credit from the seller for an ironically DOA 5200 Zaxxon I broke my $50 rule.

I have the 8-bit computer version on disk, it's basically the same game as the 5200 version excvept you get to use a much better controller.
