TRON Light Cycles

Recommended Posts

Hey, I just bought the TRON Anniversery Collectors Edition last night, and I noticed how cool the light cycles scene was and how cool the arcade version they played in the game was. So I was wondering why they never made a version of it for the 2600. Im not sure if they ever made one for the arcade, but I noticed that the game surround was almost exactly like the light cycles game in the movie. So I was wondering what things someone could do, to make the Surround game more like the light cycles arcade in TRON. I thought of making the background black with a blue grid, maybe that would be cool, any other ideas? And also let me know if they ever made an arcade version actually called TRON Light Cycles, Id like to check it out. Thanks!

i've been saying that for years! change the background to black, have one red, and one blue, have the speed increased, and if there was any way to get the intro from 'adventures of tron' into that as well.... that would be sweet....

Of course, the program would need to be completely redone to get cycles objects in the game (not to mention the disappearing trails and multiple opponents). Should be easily done in 4k, though.

"Jack Deth...it's you! The only man I had sex with." (passes out)

"?...It wasn't that bad."

The reason Atari never had it was that the Tron games (with the exception of that one later on) were licensed to Intellivision.

As far as light cycles go, to hell with Atari, its about time someone released a game on something like the Gamecube.

Consoles are just getting to the point now where they could do something like that realtime.

Yeah, really, a 3d light cycle game would kick sereous ass!

The biggest problem though about redoing the game is finding a programmer to help, and sadly this idea is looking more and more unrealistic because I can never find programmers willing to help with these sort of things, because they are allready too busy with theyre own projects. So if any out there want to help out, let me know...

I just bought the Anniversery tron myself last week and I just love it, but Livinabin is right, they should remake this game for a new system like Xbox, PS2, or the game cube. With the power of these new systems can you imagine how good it would look and play.

Oh, forgot to mention, they ARE making a Tron game for the new systems and the PC. Based on the brand NEW Tron movie, TRON 2.0

I cant wait! But I still would like to see surround altered alot to make a Tron Light Cycles game. I think it would be good if all you did was change the colors to fit the TRON look, and make the cycles faster. And maybe change the block that you move around into a better oval shape.

Could I just add that there is no DVD release of Tron in UK and I'm deeply jealous.
