+kisrael #1 Posted April 29, 2005 I'm having the hardest time getting Yoshi's Story to run on this N64 of mine...actually I brought one copy back to EB thinking it was defective...though I had YS on the system a long time ago and so I don't think that's the problem... i fiddled around with and without the memory expansion pack, but no luck. Most other games will work though some are tempremental. Any suggestions?
Dones #2 Posted April 29, 2005 AFAIK Yoshi's story doesn't make use of the the RAM expansion. It shouldn't matter if it's installed or not. What I would do is open it with a security bit and clean the contacts with an eraser.
junglehunter #3 Posted May 2, 2005 Cart contacts/console cart slot dirty at all? I always try a cleaning when things don't work after a few tries...
MegaManFan #4 Posted May 2, 2005 Indeed. I've noticed the N64 in particular is way more sensitive to grime than other systems. 9 out of 10 games I get off eBay I have to clean thoroughly first before they work in my console.

Dones #6 Posted May 2, 2005 Not only that but replacement connectors for N64 units are non-existent.

I just picked up Yoshi's Story yesterday with a bunch of other N64 titles and it is the only one that consistently does not work on the first, second or sometimes more tries... even after cleaning. I've also noticed that N64 carts can be inserted and removed from the console with very little resistance - I've got 3 N64's here and they all seem to be the same, I am wondering if this is common, or I have worn out slots...
