A2600 #1 Posted April 29, 2005 As bad as they may seem many good games where ported to the Game Boy and not the NES!! While the graphical components are similar this open itself for good results. Example: If NBA JAM: TE was in the SNES and Genny and was ported to the Game Boy why could they port it to the NES? Street Fighter 2 was a great game and was ported to the GB it could have made the jump to the NES All I say is that is popular 16-Bit games where ported to to the 8-bit Game Boy in the early 90's they could of easily been ported to the NES too!! Dones #2 Posted April 29, 2005 Many 16-bit titles were in fact ported to the NES even after it was retired, but it were mostly done by bootleg companies. If you search around the net you will find plenty of sites documenting the subject. For example, there was a NES version of Street Fighter 2, Samurai Showdown, and Donkey Kong Country 2. figgler #3 Posted April 29, 2005 That's true and some of them are in fact quite good. I've spent some good time with Street Fighter NES. But the chief reason you don't see NBA jam etc on NES is because it was on it's way toward discontinuation. The real $ was in GB and 16 bit. It's also worth noting that there are a number of titles that were released for both NES and SNES. Joe and Mac, TMNT Tournament Fighters and Wario's Woods all come to mind
sega saturn x #4 Posted April 29, 2005 Another reason im sure was its limited button setup. A two button controler is not ideal for street fighter or any fighting game come to think about it. And even though nintendos better then most at supporting older systems there not going to keep making big anme games for a last gen system. Donkey kong country came out in 1994 the nes was dead long before then thats like asking why didnt namco port mgs3 to ps1.

MegaManFan #6 Posted April 30, 2005 Taking this post quite literally, I believe Kirby started out as a Gameboy game and was then in fact ported to the NES.

Radio F Software #8 Posted April 30, 2005 There's a pirate "Super Mario World" that is actually a pretty decent game.
