+kisrael #1 Posted May 17, 2005 (edited) So the New England Classic Gamers have their own website -- a bunch of Boston (and a bit beyond) locals/classic gamers/collectors who get together for thrice-annual trademeets, classic game competition, and beer drinking and socialization. Anyway, in trying to help with adding some relevant content to the site, I reviewed an atari-themed installation of modern art... So the other day my Tufts alumni connection brought be some disturbing news. No, not that they had possibly been hacked and all my personal information they have on me was at risk -- worse. A guy named Kirk Jalbert was having his MFA thesis exhibition at Tufts' Aidekman Gallery, and it had an Atari theme. The implication was, for me, enormous: not only might I not be the biggest source of Atari 2600 mojo to come from Tufts University, I might not even be the biggest source of Atari 2600 mojo to come from Tufts University named Kirk. Troubling indeed, and further investigation was in order. Click Here for the rest of the review with Photos... Edited May 17, 2005 by kisrael
christianscott27 #2 Posted May 18, 2005 geesh first i miss the atari night at the theatre and now this, man i gotta get out more! we should have that guy come over the NECG meet someday, maybe trade off some brightly painted 2600s. theres a lot of that "tech as art" stuff going around in boston, with MIT, BU, massart and museum school chirping in. i went to a loft show in chinatown a few years back that was kinda like that... i'm such a cynic, they want me to think about the man-machine dynamic and i'm thinking "if you werent a cute little asian girl with purple hair people would tell you this sucks" nice pics and review, good to see some more content on that homepage, i should really write some stuff there.
