Though he wasn't exclusive to Atari, I've always had a soft spot for Q*bert. I even still have a plush Q*bert doll sitting on my leopard print high heel shoe chair (Sexy Chairs) -- he keeps my cats, and their cat hair off the chair! (I guess my cats are afraid that Q*bert is going to hop on them or something.)

 

As for a character exclusive to Atari 2600, then it's R. Hero from H.E.R.O., definitately!
