holygrailvideogames.com #2 Posted May 24, 2005 I just hope that for the winners sake that they are NTSC and that they work. I have never owned one of these games but I have heard that several of the Bomb games that are still around are no longer working. The carts must not have been made as well as other 2600 carts. Quality control actual did something? 856544 Not really, I have seen countless dead Bomb carts. The mask ROM just stops working. 856545 Edited May 24, 2005 by AtariAger
CPUWIZ #7 Posted May 24, 2005 they just need a good cleaning. When BOMB carts stop working, 90% of the time the mask ROM has expired. [Monthy Python Voice]That mask ROM is no more![/Monthy Python Voice] I hope that at least the one he needs works. Keeping my fingers crossed.
AtariAger #8 Posted May 24, 2005 I hope that at least the one he needs works. Keeping my fingers crossed. 860661 I needed one of those also...though I didn't want to take a gamble that high! Hope all are fine!
Spirantho #9 Posted May 24, 2005 Of course sometimes they become zombies, though.... I had two Bomb carts, neither had a label. However, I'd just turned my 7800 into a cart dumper so I thought I could dump them to see what they were; The first one I tried came out with garbage, couldn't recognise it at all. The second one the A3 line was being held low - in other words bytes 08h-0Fh were being read as 00h-07h and so on all the way through the cart. Dead mask ROM there. Next thing to do was to take many more dumps of the first one... Imagine my surprise when it dumped a perfect copy of Great Escape! I'd been trying just about everything to fix that and it suddenly repairs itself! The other cart (a Wall Defender I think it is) is destined for an EPROM.....
