Atarinvader #1 Posted February 17, 2002 Atarinvader has been down for the last couple of weeks or so, but it'll be up again soon and better than ever. However you'll only be able to access it through either http://www.atarinvader.com or http://atarinvader.com from now on. I'm going to extend the mini-review section, and although StanJr and King Atari do a good job locked in my basement, I want to get as many reviews as possible for the section, making it a resourceful database. I need reviews which are about 150-200 words and has *'s out of four. Here's an example: quote: Dark Chambers by Atari *** One of the most advanced games the 2600 saw, this comes dangerously close to rivaling a Nintendo game in quantity. This was released in 1988, when Atari was pretty much six feet under, but it's amazingly complex. A definite plus is two players can play at once, so nobody gets bored waiting for the other to die. You play a Knight venturing under an old castle, collecting treasure, keys, and food while fighting un-dead creatures. A cool premise to be sure. And it works. The idea of traveling in labyrinths under an old castle is a great idea. The whole point of the game is never clearly explained, the back of the box gives a hint about making yourself a master of the subterranean empire, so that's reason enough to play. The only thing this game suffers from is the characters move a little too slow, and the rooms tend to get boring, they're all the same except for different colors. Still, a definite must for the collector. Highly recommended. For such an early release, the graphics and sound are nothing specactular, but they suffice. With many variations, counless engagement layouts, and more than one craft of war, the value was great even then. The replay value all depends on what layout you use and the skill of your opponent. There is no real 1-player game, so if you are a sociopath, this isnt your game. When playing another human, it is a good time killer and you can get into some deep battles but it wont be a longterm engagement To sum it up, this game can be great, or mediocre. Its all in the eye of the beholder, or the pixleated cannon fodder. i usually write ****ed up logs on life, hard to shorten stuff i say.. if you ever wanna read one of my logs lemme know, if your tryin to rate what ive got.
