Nostalgic #1 Posted June 12, 2005 Yesterday I had a strange occurrence while playing the arcade Millipede in the PS2 version of Atari Anthology. At the end of one round - I think the third, when the mushrooms are yellow - after the millipede was destroyed, I got a swarm of bees (the bugs that leave mushrooms behind as they fall). What was strange is that this didn't go on for just a couple of seconds, but several minutes! For a while, all I got were the bees, spiders, inchworms, beetles, and earwigs - no millipede! This continued until I lost a life. Then the game returned to normal. Has this happened to anyone else?
Vic George 2K3 #2 Posted June 12, 2005 Similar problem happened with my copy of Atari Anthology for PS2 concerning its arcade version of Millipede.
Chris++ #3 Posted June 13, 2005 If you don't have enough mushrooms on the screen (particularly in your movement area), the bees will keep coming (intermingled with the occasional flea) until the random "new mushroom" placement fills up the screen enough to meet the program's quota. I don't think it's a bug; it's just bad luck, regarding where the mushrooms happen to be placed as the scarce fleas drop amongst the bees. (I remember this happening on the actual arcade machine as well....I was a Millipede master back in the late '80s.)
