Activision TV Games (TM*) Video Game System

Recommended Posts

I purchased this new gagdet: TV GAMES VIDEO GAME SYSTEM gamepad with 10 Activison 2600 games inside the controler.

The color contrast is all out of wack. For example, on the Freeway game, the white chicken disappears on the road because instead of dark gray, the road is a very pale gray. It doesn't help to try to adjust the TV controls. Does anyone else have this

gagdet? Are you having a smiliar problem? Do you know how to fix this?

Burgertimedude, you probably got a defective unit or, perhaps, the connector has a problem. I have one of these things and it works great. If possible, take it back and try another OR try it on a different tv. If you use a VCR to play, try bypassing the VCR. The only gripe I have with mine is the missle in Atlantis: it NEVER displays. The color, tint, contrast and brightness on mine is fine.

I recently bought this system (?) and have had several problems with it that haven't been mentioned here. When playing Spider Fighter or Pitfall, the screen is usually garbled and unplayable after a few seconds. Anyone else get this? Any solutions?

Also: any word on whether a cartridge port could be wired into the unit? I remember some discussion here when it first came out, but haven't heard anything since. Dunno, its late. Thanks.

No chance. I opened mine up and there two chips (covered in goo) and no way to integrate a cartridge slot. For pictures, you can go here: http://hometown.aol.com/georgeg175/myhomep...page/games.html

Since it's AOL, you may have to try several times. They seem to be having problems lately.

I think this is a cool idea however check out the caption on this add for the product:

New revolutionary technology just crammed 10 awesome, classic Activision video games into a single controller! It's totally portable and you can plug it into any TV or VCR with AV jacks. The cool part is that you don't need a video game console.

Revolutionary?? Yeah, like how revolutionary is it to cram 16K into a chip? I mean really.

Thanks for the link, GGrey. What is that blob for? Cheap protection or disguise? Hmmm...

My problem is not with the brightness, but that the grafx are garbled like when a dirty cart is played. Maybe I'll open it up and fiddle around...

For anyone on the fence about this system, it is $9.95 at WalMart. Search for "Activision." $ well spent, IMO

You are welcome!

One thing I have noticed, don't know if this will help, is that the video signal level is very weak. On my son's set, the menu washes out. Atlantis is difficult to see. However, through any of the household VCR's, it is just fine. I also have a small LCD monitor and the signal seems to OVERDRIVE it! So, on one hand, it does not seem to be enough to drive some sets, it seems to be too much for my little monitor. Go figure.
