joeybastard #1 Posted June 22, 2005 We all know in older days Mario was Nintendo's mascot, Sonic was Sega's and Sony's was Crash Bandicoot(at least unoffically). You never expected to play agame with them on another companies console. The other day, I was looking at Sonic games on the GC, Crash Bandicoot on the GC and the various Mario titles. It's kind of weird that today all of the mascots appear on the GC. I guess the other 2 got the Sonic and Crash games but still no Mario for the X box or PS2. Do you think the little plumber will ever make the long trek cross platform?

Lord Helmet #4 Posted June 22, 2005 I would imagine the only way it would happen is if Nintendo decides to give up hardware ala Sega. Nintendo really only sells hardware based on their proprietary franchises (Zelda, Star Fox, Metroid, Mario, etc). I think they really like having their own box to put their games on. Atarifever #5 Posted June 22, 2005 Only if Nintendo stops making hardware, so I really hope not.

Isn't that the idea with any and every console ever made? Not really. Microsoft and Sony thrive mostly on third party support. With a few notable exceptions (Gran Turismo and Halo, for instance) first party software is *not* the big selling point for those systems, nor the main reason they exist. shep #8 Posted June 22, 2005 I dont think it will ever happen because Nintendo has said if they get out of hardware they get out of the whole games business.

+uosipa llamxew #12 Posted June 23, 2005 (edited) http://www.classicgaming.com/blackmoon/smww.asp Probably common knowledge amongst a lot of you, but I found this kind of interesting... I should call my brother and see if he still has his CD-I in storage. Edited June 23, 2005 by mojofltr
