sonnenhexer #1 Posted February 22, 2002 The problem is that I live in germany, not in the US. You have small fees for shipping, but shipping to germany is high. Michael
MattyXB #2 Posted February 22, 2002 I have buy mine too in USA. I have pay ca. 150 US$. Thats many. But better play the ROM before you buy it. If you don't like it you must not buy it. But if you are a Collector you will buy it in the future, if the game is great or not. I collect Rare games, but don't like some of them. But if you are a Collector you are first interesting to get Rare games. If you only buy games to play them and have fun with them you better buy this one not. But if you like adventures you can buy it too. And better ask the seller before you bid, because he write nothing about to ship worldwide.
sonnenhexer #3 Posted February 22, 2002 Hi Matthias, that´s the problem, he doesn´t ship worldwide (germany). I have asked many sellers on ebay.com or ebay.com.au and they don´t ship to germany. Michael
Cassidy Nolen #4 Posted February 22, 2002 Why not to Germany? I have shipped things worldwide. I can send a game to the UK or Germany in an envelope from the post office for 4 dollars? Wonder why these sellers won't do it, heck, once I shipped a complete Odyssey to France, and a Discs of Tron Environmental to the UK. Now that is some shipping charges!!!!! MattyXB #5 Posted February 22, 2002 I have more luck, my last 3 auctions in USA was first not Worldwide. I have ask the sellers (4 of 4) and all have say yes, they send to me. I have a great feedback and say they must look on it. And all were happy to send to me. Maybe your feedback must grow then they will trust you more? sonnenhexer #6 Posted February 22, 2002 Hi Matthias, I think a feedback with 122 different points is ok, or not? Michael
MattyXB #7 Posted February 22, 2002 Yes, its good. I have 489 from 298 diffrent sellers. And no neutrals or negatives. Maybe you must tell the sellers they must look on your feedback. Or the Sellers are not intelligent enough to sell worldwide. I will noone harm, but why do you not sell worldwide or to someone who ask you with only great feedback. Maybe the have make bad experience in the past. But if someone has only positive I don't understand it. I tell them always that it can takes 2 weeks till the money arrive, but it arrive. sonnenhexer #11 Posted February 23, 2002 Hi, I searched ebay.com now and found this: Swordquest Waterworld Is this cart (only the cart, no manual, no box) worth 135 bucks???? Thanks Michael
ATARIPITBULL #12 Posted February 23, 2002 Well to play it you might say no, but that is the going price for waterworld now a days. I bought my first copy of Waterworld about a year ago and I paid $125.00 then, so the price is slowly going up.
MoonlightKnight #13 Posted February 23, 2002 just bid on it! Don't buy it. The reserve might be lower than the BIN price. Before I got one my minimun starting bid was $50. When I finally got outbid I would come back and up that. I'm watching this one though, if it doesn't go too high, I may bid on it to reduce my cost for the one I already have! Albert #16 Posted February 25, 2002 I think $135 for Waterworld is a bit high, especially for just the loose cart. For that price I'd at least like to get the manual and comic book also. Of course, if it was the last Silver label Atari cart I needed, I might think otherwise (and no, it's not, I also need Quadrun, Crazy Climber, maybe others). As for why some US eBay sellers won't ship overseas, it's because it's a pain in the neck. I will make the extra effort to sell to international bidders, especially since you're potentially restricting how high your items might sell for. But compared to Domestic shipping, sending anything overseas is a lot more work. If you don't have a scale it's difficult to figure out the up-front shipping costs, so you have to box the item up, bring it to the post office, have it weighed, and then tell the winning bidder what the price with shipping is. After he or she pays, then you have to go back to the post office, fill out a customs form, stand in line (which can be a while depending on when you go), and then ship the package. Compare this with Priority Mail in the states where you get free boxes, it's easy to calculate the shipping cost in advance, you can buy stamps in the common Priority Mail amounts, and you can just drop all your packages off at the PO and leave without waiting in line. Again, I think it's worthwhile to cater to international bidders, but some people don't want to go through the hassle. They just want to conduct the transactions in the easiest way possible. At least in those auctions for rare items where it states, "NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING", I know I don't have to fend off bids from the likes of Marco. ..Al
