Anyone ever shipped an arcade game before?

Recommended Posts

I REALLY don't want to do this - but, in the interest of getting a few more bidders involved in my auctions, I just might - as I've had a few people ask.

How difficult is it to do?

There is a "drop site" about 20 minutes away from me - so that's no biggie - but getting one of these properly crated? Well that's another story.

Any advice?

Thanks much!

Andrew

What? You drop off the face of the earth and then you come back and drop the bombshell on us? Selling your games? Have you gone mad? iiworry.gif iiworry.gif

I've never shipped a game before, but I have heard that North American Van Lines is a good place to call. There number is 800-959-8880 and ask for Michelle. With NAVL you do not need to crate it.

Buuuut, if you want to, here is some info on crating a game: http://www.mikesarcade.com/arcade/crating.html

I've done it many a time.

I generally use 1/2" plywood and make a base that's a little bigger than the game, then I use 2x2's, 2x4's, 1/4" plywood, and drywall screws to do the rest. Here's a pic of one I did a while back, but now I screw & glue 2 strips of 2x4 on the bottom instead of using a palette, and I use 1/4" plywood to keep the weight down.

I usually do not crate. Shrinkwrap and cardboard it good, then strap it to a pallate you find somewhere. Ask Kmart, or somewhere like that for a free one. I use the ratcheting tie downs, so the new owner can reuse them (hey, they are paying right!).

Only game I ever got shipped to me was crated (2 Computer Spaces), and I just threw the last of the wood away from that this week. Thats five years ago. Man it takes a lot of wood to do it.

Check with Forward Air. Pilot Air is good too, and I know you dont have to crate it for them.
