:?

How about being more specific about what happened?

It also helps to specify 2 port or 4 port. :ponder:

Ok... I was testing out games I went through about 30 or so and I shut it off normally to switch games I put the other game in and pressed the power button and nothing came on the screen it was just the normal black and white fuzz.

My 5200 is a 2 port.

I think it may be the power button seeing how I was pushing it on and off, I am not sure.

:)

Could be the power supply, do you have a spare to test with. If you have a voltmeter you can test the suspect one too.

I think i know how i fryed the other one...

I stuck a 2600 chip in and it must have made that one fry slowley... Any way to make that power supply work again?

Thanks Mitch for your suggestion.

The 5200 power supply has a fuse in it that goes out. I've had to replace several of them in the past.

Is there any special way to open them up?

And

Is the fuse a common one to?

Thanks

Just a common glass fuse that is soldered in. I don't remember the value off the top of my head, but I think it is pretty common. The only way I was able to get into my power supply was with a hammer. Also DO NOT just replace the fuse with a jumper, it is ok to test one like that, but remember the fuse is there for a reason.

One of the 5200 power supply models has screws the other is glued shut. If you have a glued one you will probably have to use a hammer. When I opened one like that I put the power supply on it's side between a couple of old 2x4s and hit the 2x4. That way you won't damage the case as badly.

Yeah it took me a hammer a screwdriver. Then when I was done seeing how I messed the case up so bad I used a solder iron to melt it back together.

On the next one I do ill have to be more careful.

;-)

Thanks for you help Mitch and Elliott
