Damn. :(

Recommended Posts

I was moving some stuff around, and misstepped and dropped my 27" tv on my 7800. Needless to say, it's crushed. (It had the A/V mod in it too, just for an additional slap-in-the-face).

At least the tv is ok

(It sucks when you live alone - nobody to help you move stuff...)

I am *very* lucky I happened to take the CC2 out and put it with the other carts first, otherwise I would be extremely upset...

Time to find another 7800... :(

I just wrote this to remind everyone - don't be stupid like me - get someone to help you move heavy objects! :ponder:

Well I can add this to the "Stupid thing I did to my Atari" file:

So a while back I bought a CX-80 Trak-ball, and wired the optics to the board from a Mitsumi Serial Mouse to make it a fully functioning windows mouse, to use it in MAME as a Trackball for centipede, etc. IT worked great.

Then, our own Kenfused made the 7800 Centipede-TB hack, so I wired it back to it's original shape. It worked great.

So then I decided to get creative, and see if I could wire it so that it would do BOTH, mouse & trackball. After much fiddling, I couldn't get it to work. and after a while, I think too much heating up of the solder joints burned out the optics, because they no longer work, but the fire button still does.

Damn. Now I gotta buy another trak-ball. Does anyone know if Best Elec. sell just the optics PCBs?

Aww, that's OK. My daddy passed down his Atari to me and I lost it with everything else in the storage building.

2 2600's, 255 games, a nearly complete sets from several companies (including Starpath 1 to 10), three paddle sets, two keyboards, Video Touch pad, two driving controllers, the CBS Booster Grip, two trackballs, and billions of joysticks including the Amiga Power Stick and two Atari Wireless sticks, plus dust proof cases for it all, nearly every bit in almost new condition....

all down the tubes 'cause someone got utterly stupid and lost my storage room key for me.

I also very nearly lost a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP in the same deal. Thankfully I got it back and I use it in this computer.

The biggest ouch was the Starpath games. All of them had the original cassette boxes and most had instructions. They were arranged into a burgundy cassette organizer with the Supercharger itself and a Xonox cartridge dust cover. It looked like an ordinary briefcase.

I'd trade all the rest (including the video card) for that set alone.

Anyway, it's all getting replaced, only better. I am starting a 7800 collection, and will include 2600 titles with it.

Too bad it wasn't the TV that got damaged instead of the 7800...there'll always be TV's around, but an officially-made 7800's has actual collecting values. Oh well, it sucks to be you, I guess one could say... =(
