Happy with my C64

I'm done for the night messing with TAP, T64 and my PC. I've got load a bunch of games, man Mr.Do! is the game... Can wait to put together a XE1541 :) :)

I *suck* at soldering. If you figure out where to get one of those XE1541 cables, let me know. Every site that sold them I found was defunct.

Have you tried http://sta.c64.org/x1541shop.tml ? I bought some cables from them early this year, and everything went well... looks like they're still in business.

There are always a few on eBay. If soldering's not your game, it's a nice alternative. I've got an old 486 that I kept around for gaming and for using with my xe1541 cable. Most of my retro pc gaming is done through DosBox now, but I keep the old machine around for the XE1541 still (since you have to boot into DOS, it's just easier).

 

Of course, I still have a real '64 hooked up as well.

Ditto. Games on casette tapes only keep you happy so long. I gotta get one of those cables too. Preferably one that'll work under WinXP, if they have 'em, but I have an older Win98 machine I think I could use as well. :D
