AlexKIDD #1 Posted July 1, 2005 Could anyone show me a picture of a gba game being played on a game boy player? If you know of a site where I could find one of thse pictures or could take a picture of your own please let me know. I'd like to know how the games look on there before I pick up one of these things. Thanks in advance.
Ralph3 #2 Posted July 1, 2005 If you watch G4 and when they have reviews/footage of GBA games, they use a Game Boy adapter on a GameCube. For a $50.00 (NEW) or about $35.00 (USED-make sure it has the boot disc)add on to play games on a larger (MUCH LARGER) screen than the lackluster 1st version of GBA to the DS, you can't go wrong. 2 negatives: 1-Can't play Warioware Twisted and other motion activated games (unless you want to sit there with the whole system in your hands moving the system around), I guess you can get the 3rd party GBA player that plugs into the memorycart slot that has a wire hooked to it so it can be moved. 2-(if you want to count it) You can't play the Movie/Cartoon carts on it. Why? I don't know. I don't have a movie cart to try it out. Positives: 1-Great picture. 2-Easy to use. 3-Get the Naki (IIRC) to play the games with. Kind of like a SNES styled controller for GC with no analog stick. 4-Screen is resizable (not much of a difference between the 2 modes, something like 5% difference. 5-You can play GB games on it! joeybastard #3 Posted July 1, 2005 Overall the GBA player screen presentation is excellent. There's some jagged lines you wouldn't notice on a GBA's small screen but it's not bad at all. I would compare it to looking like a SNES screen for the most part. Get the player, it's a great addition to the GC
The Eidolon #4 Posted July 1, 2005 Silly question: Could one use a flash cart with the GameBoy Player to play emulated games on the GameCube? Or does that only work on a real GBA? --The Eidolon
joeybastard #5 Posted July 1, 2005 I'd guess YES, but I'm not sure. The player will play any GB/GBC/GBA game as far as I know. There might be controller issues as previously mentioned but they carts will play.

I was at Circuit City this morning and I picked up the 3rd party version of the Game Boy Player for under $13.00. I forgot the name of it-I forgot it in my car. Actually I think it's much better than that. There are a set of options for the picture quaility(smooth-normal-sharp) and many borders to choose from. I think there is a full screen option, but I'm not sure. I do know that there is quite a few border choices to match the type of game that you're playing. It may not be full screen altogether, but the quality is great and so is the emulation. Plays all gameboy, gameboy color, gameboy advance games. You can get one now for around $30 or so. It's definitely worth it.
Ze_ro #9 Posted July 4, 2005 I only have two real complaints about the GB Player: The sound is bad. I'm thinking this is actually limitations of the GBA hardware itself that makes it sound bad once it comes through a stereo system, rather than actual problems with the GB Player itself, but still. There's no way to completely turn off screen smoothing. It gives you a couple of options for it, but I don't notice any difference between the two, and neither gives you a really sharp picture. I also wish the thing didn't need a boot disc, but oh well. --Zero

Yah. GBA is using largely the same sound hardware as the original monochrome Gameboy. It's actually impressive how much they DO squeeze out of it. I also wish the thing didn't need a boot disc, but oh well. Definitely.

Ecube1Gig is less than 100 bucks here: http://www.winsunx.com/index.php?mod=Development_Tools
