keilbaca #51 Posted July 6, 2005 dodgeball is kinda popular though. Some games I like that aren't however. Rolling Thunder Zanac Gun_Nac.
rockman_x_2002 #52 Posted July 7, 2005 (edited) Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but how about "Journey to Silius"? Seems like that's one that's very often overlooked. Also there was a shooter by Sammy called "Silk Worm." I always liked playing that one a good bit. Edited July 7, 2005 by rockman_x_2002
Dones #53 Posted July 7, 2005 (edited) Some games I like that aren't however. Rolling Thunder Zanac Gun_Nac. Zanac is my favorite Compile shooter. Played it a lot. Have you checked the Playstation sequel ZanacXZanac? Gunnac has bizarre levels but it's quite a challenge. I once finished it and the ending but I think I got a "bad" ending. Rolling Thunder is great. Tengen might have been unlincesed but they did release excellent arcade ports. Edited July 7, 2005 by Dones
Flojomojo #54 Posted July 7, 2005 Golgo 13 never shows emotion, ever, even when he's in the middle of intercourse. He's so stiff and wooden that I quickly gave him the nickname "AlGore 13". Has anyone here seen the movie Golgo 13: The Professional? It's a movie that's so unintentionally funny and ripe for parody that it could easily have been showcased in an episode of Mystery Science Theatre 3000. The storyline was hard to follow, the enemies were ridiculous, and the lead character had all the depth and personality of a styrofoam cup. The producers even threw in a few random computer rendered scenes (all horribly dated) just to ensure that the audience was completely bewildered. I'm telling you, the movie could have been the next Mitchell! 886688 If you can find a copy cheap enough, I agree that the anime is worth it for a laugh. It's also very bloody and sexy as far as US tastes run (but par for the course for Japan). There's another Golgo 13 anime that has been dubbed into English called "Queen Bee," which I snagged from the record store but haven't been in the right state of mind to watch. Also, there's a live-action version which looks Punisher-awful. The manga translated for the US at the time included all the maps for the game in the back, as did the included manual, so it's not as difficult as it would be without the maps. If you're paperless, there's a wiki with everything needed to play. There's also a useful level select code to help you get through the game. The sequel, Mafat Conspiracy, is to Tope Secret Episode as Perfect Dark is to Goldeneye: a technically superior sequel that doesn't quite live up to the simple fun of the original, IMHO. You: What, you don't like Perfect Dark as much as Goldeneye? Me: ... ("DOT DOT DOT!")
Dones #55 Posted July 7, 2005 (edited) Cool thanks for the info. I am surprised someone actually bothered to make a wiki about this game (personally I don't think it's that memorable). "..." Edited July 7, 2005 by Dones

Lord Thag #58 Posted July 8, 2005 I'll agree about Zanac and Guardian Legend. Two of my all time favorite games. Here's a couple that haven't been mentioned: Mach Rider, Wrecking Crew and Exite Bike. I like all three of the 'programmable' games Most people hate this one, but I actually liked Deadly Towers. It was big, non-linear, and hard as hell. The NES port of M.U.L.E. wasn't bad. I just picked up a game called 'Metal Mech' that seems quite fun. If you want my #1 pick, however, it would be either of the Sir-Tech Wizardy games. They are, hands down, the best 8-bit RPG games EVER. Wizardy rocks!

They even made a sequel on the 64 and a port of it for gba.
JohnnyBlaze #61 Posted July 10, 2005 (edited) If you use emulators, then Sweet Home is a pretty damn good game. The only way you can play the translated version is with an emulator. If it wasn't for that game, there wouldn't be a Resident Evil, as most of the designers palyed this game and utilized this to make RE. Also, I played translated version of "Mother" A.K.A. Earthbound Zero. These are two games I wished they came out with in the States. If you saw the NWC program, a game called Home Sweet Home was listed. I guess because of the graphic death scenes, Nintendo didn't want to release it. I hate those kid friendly motherfuckers!!! Nintendo should've grown a damn spine! Even now, they're too squeaky clean. and they wonder why they can't move DS or Gamecube. Edited July 10, 2005 by JohnnyBlaze
Rockin' Kat #62 Posted July 10, 2005 I think RockinKats is a pretty fun game. I had never heard of it untill I found it in a used game store about half a year ago.

Dones #66 Posted July 11, 2005 Crystalis has certainly developed a cult following. Who knows? In these days of endless sequels we might just get a new installment.

It never seemed to get any respect. Been playing Bump'n'Jump on my new NES clone lately. What a brilliant old game!
chrisbid #68 Posted July 11, 2005 Been playing Bump'n'Jump on my new NES clone lately. What a brilliant old game! 889987 i hated it when they released "updated" arcade games on the NES.. bump n jump is one of these perversions
dalton4life #69 Posted July 11, 2005 Rygar is at the top of my list. Although it's had a PS2 update most folks I come across never heard of it. It has no save sucks but that's not a problem if you emulate. Kid Icarus was a good one too but extemely difficult, however it is easier if you emulate that one too because you can save anywhere. Dr. Morbis #70 Posted July 12, 2005 If you use emulators, then Sweet Home is a pretty damn good game. The only way you can play the translated version is with an emulator. Yes, it is an excellent game. But no, it is not impossible for North Americans to play the translated version on a real system. I got a translated Sweet Home a long time ago from here and so should you if you enjoy the game as much as I do.
sega saturn x #71 Posted July 12, 2005 and they wonder why they can't move DS or the Gamecube They can't move the DS man that's news to me. It is true cubes not doing great but it's hanging in there. *sorry for being off topic by a mile*
BONEMAN #72 Posted July 13, 2005 I think Blaster Master, Cobra Triangle, Wrecking Crew, Duck Tales, River City Ransom, and The Guardian Legend are all great games.
panda_racer #73 Posted July 13, 2005 Solar Jetman? Very polished, slick game, I don't think you hear that much about it. 886835 I hate Solar Jetman, so so very much. i hate the controls and since you do the same thing the entire game, i hate the whole game. Smiley #74 Posted July 13, 2005 Maniac Mansion. Second would be Kid Icarus. I wouldn't mind if ninty brought that game back for the rev, or even on the ds. Oh, and capcom made some of the weirdest nes games, imo: Yo noid, and Little Nemo.
kickinwing #75 Posted July 13, 2005 the Guardian Legend was very good, but one of my favorite RPGs of all time came on the NES, a little game called. "The Magic of Sherenzade" or however it's spelled http://www.vgmuseum.com/images/nes/01/magicofS.html Great Great game, has a bit of Zelda and Final Fantasy mixed in, many different characters to use in battle, magic combos, its awesome.
