My New Joust in her new Arcade

Recommended Posts

Hey there fellows..... Just thought I would drop by and post some photos of my Joust after I got her inside and hooked up. I still need to clean her up. She needs to have her monitor overlay glass cleaned and she needs to just be given a bath all over. She also has some money hidden deep inside, that has managed to slip into the base of the cabinet. :) She took her place well with my other honeys... :) She looks so majestic sitting there in my den. I know I probably bore some people talking about my games, but heck, what does other people talk about, there family problems??? LOL Anyway, I hope I don't bore any of you. I have also included some more of my games. They all need to be played. I just never have enuff time seems like. I have 9 in all. Most of you have probably seen them, but I will show them again. Maybe one day I will get my place cleaned up enough that it will look good enough to show the entire room. Anyway, my Joust is in her nest. She plays great. I will show some more photos in a few days after she has had her feathers washed....:) be good men.. Hope you lke my arcade.... Doug

You've got quite the 80's collection there! All the fav's!

I can't recall if those are the original start buttons on Joust. If so, there are bulbs under them that cause the buttons to glow. I believe they are bulb number 44's, and that makes for a super trick little fix (they are almost always burned out).

also, check to see if there are batteries on the boards. I think Joust has 3 AA's (its been a while since I had a Williams around the house), and I would recommend just changing them regardless of good or bad. Its a cheap insurance against acid damage.

What does your wall say? "Magic something"?

And how many games do you have?

"My wall says Magic Moments. It was an old business that a friend had and she closed her store. The sign actually is supposed to be mounted on a building and it lights up if it has electricity run to it.  For some reason, people always just give me things.... Kind of like all of my games, they were nearly given to me. I have a total of 8 games, The Phoenix costed me $100.00. It needed a monitor. I paid $385.00 for the new monitor. The Frogger was $150.00. It only needed a power supply. That costed $185.00. The Zaxxon costed me $175.00. It was ready to go. The VS. Slalom costed me $200.00. She was ready to go. The Pole Positions both costed me $75.00 a piece. They were ready to go all except one of them needed a small switch in the Gear Shifter. That switch was given to me at no charge. One of the Pole Positions was found in an abandoned trailer, I found out who owned the land and he told me I could have it for $75.00. She had been in the rain and snow for about 9 months. Very little damage. I guess someone thought she was torn up, because she was stuck in the test mode... It took all of 5 minutes to figure out. She needs some cosmetic work done on her, not much though, suprisingly due to the fact that she was in an old trailer that had not much of a roof and not but 2  walls, but she fired right up as soon as I plugged her in. The Q-Bert was $250.00. She was ready to go. The Joust costed me $120.00, she was ready to go. I cleaned her up a bit tonight. She was real clean inside. So, you see, I have been real lucky, none of my machines costed me much. When I loaded up the Phoenix and took her to the repair center in Knoxville, they were ecstatic. The repair guy offered me $1300.00 CASH for her right on the spot. He said he hadn't seen one in that good of condition in years. The Phoenix also had a spare set of boards in it, so I guess I got 2 Phoenixs' for the price of one, I just need a good empty cabinet for her twin to go in....Good to hear from you...
