Starcat #1 Posted July 12, 2005 Hi folks! I updated the Eerievale forum to a newer version again, because hackers successfully got access again and erased threads... Anyway, I hope this time it is safer. I also added a German section to the forum now and you can find new polls in both the German and english forum. Please check them out and vote. Eerievale Forum Regards, Lars.
Starcat #2 Posted July 16, 2005 Hi folks! Just wanted to let you know, that there also is a thread that explains some mayor differences of Eerievale to Myst.. For those of you who still compare EV to Myst and don't know the differences yet. Regards, Lars.
Albert #3 Posted July 16, 2005 Sorry to hear your forum got hacked--I've seen quite a few phpBB2 forums get hacked recently, and personally it's something I'd stay far away from. We even got hacked briefly when we were running phpBB2. Not sure what free alternatives there are, but phpBB has been exploited so often it's not funny. ..Al
Starcat #4 Posted July 17, 2005 Hi Al! Yes, that's true. On the other hand, except for Eerievale I don't really need a forum. And just for that I don't want to change to a commercial solution. So I guess phpBB is my only choice at the moment. Regards, Lars.
Tyrant #5 Posted July 17, 2005 So I guess phpBB is my only choice at the moment. 893102 Like hell it is, just ask google how many free message boards and content management / portal systems there are.
Albert #6 Posted July 19, 2005 So I guess phpBB is my only choice at the moment. 893102 Like hell it is, just ask google how many free message boards and content management / portal systems there are. 893116 While browsing the IPB forums a few minutes ago, I came across this free forum software that a few people seem to like (as far as free forum software goes): http://www.simplemachines.org/ Looks like it has a lot of fans thus far and is being pretty actively developed. Given the glacial pace of phpBB development (they *STILL* have not released a new version of phpBB, after, what, three years?), they'll probably be light years ahead of them soon enough. ..Al
