Since the topic came up a few weeks ago, I threw together an iTunes iMix of Atari-related songs--The Atari EP. If you like, check it out at:

Can you post the track list for those of us who don't have iTunes?

891171[/snapback]

"Atari" by Muckafurgason from the CD Tossing a Friend

"My 2600" by Captain Funkaho from the CD Peanut Butter Wolf's Jukebox 45's

"2600" by Farm Fresh from the CD Played Out (1994-1996)

"Atari" by Lucky Boys Confusion from the CD Commitment

"Travis Ate My Atari" by The Fuzz from the CD Noise Destroyers

And I also suggest these tunes which iTunes doesn't carry:

"Atari 2600" by Splitsville from the CD Splitsville USA

"Atari 2600" by Little Brother from their demo (this is the 'Atareeeeee is for the children' rap/R&B parody that was on this site a few weeks ago)

Now don't go stealin' music... :ponder:

That's pretty cool, I didn't know you could do that with iTunes. Amusing that three of the songs have "explicit" lyrics. :) Did it create the album cover for you? What happens if you add songs from your library instead of songs from the music store? Had no idea that there were songs with "Atari" or "2600" in the title, but I can't say I'm really surprised.

Yep, it created the cover--just a collage of the actual album covers put together. iTunes has you create the iMix as a playlist on your computer, so you can only include songs that you already own. It then 'publishes' the playlist as an iMix, and the iMix only shows the songs that iTunes actually sells. Hence, I have the Splitsville song from my CD, but it didn't show up in the iMix because iTunes doesn't sell that album. Then there's a song I ripped from a CD that iTues DOES sell but the song didn't show up in the iMix--I had to change the ID tags on my ripped version to match the tags of the version on iTunes, then it showed up.

There are other songs with Atari and 2600 in the title, but they didn't seem as appropriate, so I didn't include them. There were a few instrumentals--techno and a surf one called Guitari 2600--and some, like "Atari Track & Field Controller" which had nothing to do with the title.

Thanks for the additional information. I was wondering what happened if songs that don't exist in the iTunes Music Store were part of your iMixes. Pretty cool that it creates an album cover as a collage from the other covers, but would also be nice if they let you upload your own, custom album artwork. I was also wondering how they'd identify songs if the ID tags were wrong, but you preemptively answered that for me. :)

I listened to the snippets for each of the songs you included and they all seem pretty relevant. :) Doesn't surprise me that there are others with Atari-related names that aren't very fitting.

Is that directed at me? Nah, I'm not running Linux. But why do I want/need to download some other app to my box? Just so I can read a track list? I don't need more crap on my computer that I'll never use. :P
