To a certain degree I do. If the label variation means a different manufacturer (one Impossible Mission II was American Video, another was by SEI) I do, or if the label has two completely different pictures on the front (THe Untouchables) I do, but I'm not into all of the Nintendo "seal of quality" variations like some people are. My goal was one each of every NTSC game sold by retail or mail order, and that's how close I am at this point. No extra manuals I'm afraid - getting to this point has weeded out most of the extras of a lot of things and I only have a few somewhat common NES games left loose as duplicates.

I am sure you aren't the only one who's watching the 6 in 1 game or who has been watching it from the start of that auction. :|

Anyway, best of luck completing the games - yer almost there and with patience and a bit of time I am sure it'll be complete soon.

Just out of curiousity, how many game cartridges does your collection add up to?

892370[/snapback]

I don't have the exact count right now because I have some carts that haven't come in the mail and some I haven't tested, but last time I checked it was well over 730 unique carts (including the aforementioned major variations).

Chicky, there's at least 3 Caltrons on eBay now, and I'm just gonna bid on all three until I win at least one - then you can outbid me on one of the other two. ;)

Yep, there are two other sites posting about that specific cart and 4 other NES collectors I know of who are watching on that one, 2 with some pretty deep pockets, so a third might go for slightly less.

@Steve--your VG collection must be rivaling some of the biggest VG collectors out there by now. Is the focus of your whole VG collection boxed games, or do you have loose stuff for the most part?

I've recently started shifting my focus onto Atari's classic generation systems and have been selling off most of what I do not play that isn't from Atari. I gotta get some money for the boxes somehow.

Its funny how carts come in demand all the sudden wasnt to long ago you could get a caltron for a little over 100.00 and im sure closer to christmas you would be able to snag one cheaper.

You could actually count me in the "deep pockets" category for three reasons - my business is doing pretty good right now, Rockstar Games just paid me for 3 months worth of ads at once, and since there's so little left that I need at this point to finish my NES set I'm "in it to win it." That's not to be confused with being smart though - if high demand drives the price of a Caltron too high I could always just chill and let my hard earned cash gain interest in the bank. :D

@Steve--your VG collection must be rivaling some of the biggest VG collectors out there by now.  Is the focus of your whole VG collection boxed games, or do you have loose stuff for the most part?

Depends on the system. My 7800 collection is complete for carts, and I have almost all of the boxes. My 5200 collection is complete, but I only have half or so of the boxes. My Intellivision collection is not quite complete, but a lot of it is boxed including some of the rares. So on and so forth. I suppose the single most impressive boxed collection I have would be my entire US SMS set, including the hard to acquire Buster Douglas Boxing, and the single most impressive boxed games I have would be Cheetahmen II for NES and Bounty Bob Strikes Back for 5200 (both complete of course). I don't go out of my way to get boxes, but if they are a package deal and I need the game I don't turn them down either, especially if the price is right.

Still and all I don't feel like it's impressive compared to guys like CPUWIZ, DJ Badger, Rick Weis, Trade-N-Games, and so on. I don't have a complete boxed Crazy Climber for 2600, nor Waterworld, nor Obelix - I only have loose games. I don't have an Out of Control, loose or boxed. My River Patrol is loose, and was made from an authentic loose board stuck inside a non-original Tigervision case with a reproduction label - you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference, but I know - and yet I'm perfectly satisfied with it. I think the breadth of my collection is probably more impressive than the individual parts of it. And in sheer physical numbers, I do have a lot of individual games. It's a challenge to me to continue to find clever ways to store them without needing a bigger rec room. One of the things I'm doing to save room is convert all my old tapes to DVD, plus I'm trying to sell off a lot of my extras (I had a table in Tulsa).

Ahh. Well as I already said, I'm not the top dollar guy when it comes to boxes, but I'll cherry pick a few here or there when they interest me. I just bought a nice 2600 Masters of the Universe box for $10, because I'd like a complete set of M-Network boxes. I'm actually much closer to completing an Imagic set though.

Indeed, all those guys have very impressive collections, but in different ways. Most of those guys only collect for 1 or 2 systems. In terms of sheer size, I'm hard pressed to come up with a list of more than maybe 10-15 people who have overall collections as large as yours. Give yourself some credit.

The only thing I can say about my collection is that I am getting pretty close to having 2600 different 2600 games. I passed the 2000 cart barrier for VCS games, including label variations recently, but it still pales in comparison to Marco who probably has about as much boxed and complete.

You've certainly got me beat there John! At last count I'm up to around 800 Atari 2600 games, including label variations. The picture label late 80's copyright Blackjack is driving me nuts, as are a couple of the Activision/Imagic blue labels. At least I finally got that picture label Sears Gunslinger a few months ago, although it cost me a pretty penny to do it.

BTW I just bought Hiilsfar and Ultima Warriors of Destiny, so we can scratch those off the list, but I still need the other four. Tested games I currently have (not counting ones I've bought but haven't received) for NES now = 746. :D

No longer need a Caltron 6-in-1, so even though that wasn't "officially" on the list since there were some on eBay, I can now scratch that off too. If you've got any of the three above, please post or PM me. :D

Power Blade 2 is now off the list. If anybody has a Peek-a-Boo Poker or Stadium Events they'd part with (unlikely, I know) please PM me. :D

Just realized I had overlooked two games I still needed when crosschecking, so I'm actually bumping up the list to add the additional titles I'm looking for - Formula One and Gemfire. If you have either of these NES games for sale or trade, please PM me or post. Thanks!

I'm not counting non-retail titles John. NWC's weren't sold to the public.

Gotcha. Oh well, I was hoping I'd finally found someone who could provide us with scans of them for the NES DB

No, but with the exception of the four games at the top of this page, I could scan anything else. I even have the box and instructions for the Caltron 6-in-1 and Cheetahmen II. :D Well actually I wouldn't scan the boxes becaue I don't want to flatten them - I'd just take photos.

I never would have thought the Ubisoft version of Last Crusade would be harder to get than Stadium Events, Bonk's Adventure and the Caltron 6-in-1, but such is my luck. The list is now down to three games, so who's got the hook-up? :D

Update - I'm down to only needing Peek a Boo Poker. I know it's a stretch but does anybody have a copy they're willing to sell so I can complete my NES collection? Thanks!
