+RangerG #1 Posted January 28, 2002 Does anyone use dust covers? I have an Atari 2600, an Atari 5200 and a Colecovision sitting out and original logo dust covers might look really nice and neat. However, are they really neccesary? Will that much dust actually get on a console so as to cause it to malfunction? moycon #2 Posted January 28, 2002 Yes Im suprised they made it this long. I would suggest have someone custom knit some...That would be the coolest. Errrrr. OK I'll shut-up
pitfallaimee #3 Posted January 28, 2002 Hmmm...I'd make dust covers out of a silver nylon...maybe with black trim...I have a new home ec. project!
Lemmi #4 Posted January 28, 2002 I have one for the 2600 and it saves me from cleaning the damn thing all the time, for some reason the Basement (aka Game Room) is where all the dust seems to collect So its just a cleaning thing for me, also it looks nice
moycon #5 Posted January 28, 2002 MMmmmmmm silver nylons. Can you make me some too please!!! PLEASE!!!

pitfallaimee #7 Posted January 28, 2002 I'll see how easy they are to make...once I have a pattern rigged it'll be simple to copy over and over. Of course, I'll have to do it over for each system...hmmm...if anyone else wants one, I could monogram them...
moycon #8 Posted January 28, 2002 Wow Aimee has lots of nylons laying around. I don't want any with runs in them Aimee. Or stains either. Like coffee stains...None of that. And please embroider mine with a big M. Thanx.
pitfallaimee #9 Posted January 28, 2002 riiiiiiight. Anyone else for a dust cover? I gotta have something to do at school.
liveinabin #10 Posted January 29, 2002 Mind, you Americans have always been forthcoming with nylons and chocolate I SO want a monogrammed (autographed? )Pitfall Aimee dustcover!!!! My jr and six-switch get real dusty.
liveinabin #11 Posted January 29, 2002 Oh ranger, in answer to your original query, I don't think dust covers are too necessary for consoles, they're more for keyboards where dust can really play havoc (apparently!)
pitfallaimee #12 Posted January 29, 2002 I've mocked up a cover in shiny black poly-blend. These things are stupidly easy to make. The black is very slick--I'm going to make one for my Vader! If you want a (monogrammed and autographed ) dust cover, let me know. I'd be happy to make them.
ATARIPITBULL #13 Posted January 29, 2002 I have about four Atari dust covers in there boxes, but I never use them, I keep my lose 2600 system in the black plastic atari case.
JCroniger #14 Posted January 29, 2002 I'd like a couple. One for my Vader and 1 for my 6 switch. How much would you want? Can you put a clasic Atari Logo on it? Monogramed would be okay, but my wife would mock me too much.
CosmicJoke #15 Posted January 29, 2002 pitfallaimee: Actually I would like a silver one. How much would you charge? Would you want to trade for some Atari 2600 carts?
Fretwobbler #16 Posted January 29, 2002 An Atari branded one sold on ebay for £15.00 the other day - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll...item=1323707268 Adam

pitfallaimee #19 Posted January 29, 2002 I don't have the cost worked out yet (I have to get some more material) but I can promise it won't be much, since the fabric is out of the bargain bin at walmart. I think I can get a nice logo on it; I'll try it this afternoon.
liveinabin #20 Posted January 29, 2002 Ah, the bargain bin at walmart! What could be more American, they should put that on the back of the dollar bill

moycon #25 Posted January 29, 2002 What the....OHHHHH Nylon from Wal Mart Bargin Bin??!!??? Heehee. I thought you just had an over ubundance of old nylons lying around. I was picturing Aimee as some new wave girl who wore silver nylons, silver lipstick, silver nail-polish, and sterling silver Atari logo ear-rings. Man I'll never be able to get rid of that image.
